If you Get There Before I Do

Today we say good-bye to my Aunt Ellene. She has been much more than an Aunt. We have laughed, cried, and played together. She was always there for me and I always knew she loved me no matter what. I spent many summers with her and my uncle. I babysat my cousins and we spent most holidays together. She was in her 40's when she was diagnosed with M.S. We all learned what a horrible, debilitating disease it was. Slowly we watch the disease steal away the function of her body. Through it all she always smiled and kept her sense of humor. Her final words to me were I love you, I love you and I am so glad  you came to see me. I knew when I walked out her door a year ago in November  it would be the last time I would see her this side of heaven. She was the perfect example of a Christian, a loving wife, and mother. Good bye Aunt Ellene I will see you again on the other side of heaven's door.  This card is a scheduled post. The image is an old Sara Kay stamp. I thought it looked like someone saying good-bye.
My Song: Collin Raye
I read a note my grandma wrote back in 1923
Grandpa kept it in his coat and he showed it once to me
He said, "Boy, you might not understand but a long, long time ago
Grandma's daddy didn't like me none but I loved your grandma so"
We had this crazy plan to meet and run away together
Get married in the first town we came to and live forever
But nailed to the tree where we were supposed to meet instead
I found this letter and this is what it said
If you get there before I do, don't give up on me
I'll meet you when my chores are through
I don't know how long I'll be but I'm not gonna let you down
Darling, wait and see
And between now and then 'til I see you again
I'll be loving you, love me
I read those words just hours before my grandma passed away

In the doorway of a church where me and grandpa stopped to pray
I know I'd never seen him cry in all my 15 years
But as he said these words to her, his eyes filled up with tears
If you get there before I do, don't give up on me
I'll meet you when my chores are through
I don't know how long I'll be but I'm not gonna let you down
Darling, wait and see
And between now and then 'til I see you again
I'll be loving you, love me
Between now and then 'til I see you again
I'll be loving you, love me

"Thanks So Much"

I wanted to make a card to thank a friend for a gift of sheets and sheets of Mulberry paper. These sheets are huge four by three feet. There are two boxes of them in various colors. When I first saw this image from THE PAPER SHELTER
I knew I would have to make this friend a card using it. The image is called Creative Memories Oval was used to cut the image out and the card stock framing it. I used some of the Mulberry paper and glued a square on it and then tore it around the oval. I used a Poppy die cut for thee corner boarders. Adding iridescent pearls for sparkle to the flowers. The little flowers around the image are a Poppy die also. Sassy Sentiments stamp was used for the sentiment on the front of my card. The inside of my card I used a Spellbinders die. The DP is the last of a fabric pad.
This is an auto post as I am away with family. My beloved aunt passed away and I have flown to Missouri  to attend her memorial service and spend some time with my uncle. If any of you know anything about M.S. you know the debilitating toll it can take on one's life. My aunt fought a good fight for many years but eventually she began to slide down hill. I shall miss her, but I know she is free of the chains that weighed her down. She now walks with the Lord.

My Song: Friends (Bette Midler)
And I am all alone
There is no one here beside me
And my problems have all gone
There is no one to deride me
But you got to have friends
The feeling's oh, so strong
You got to have friends
To make that day last long

"Go Light Your World"

A closr look at the image!
My sentiment from Sweet & Sassy.
One more look at the image!
 The inside of my card!
I warned you that I had made three new cards with this image! This is the second card. It might just be my favorite. (At least until the next one!) The paper was in my stash and I have been trying to find the perfect card for it. I thought it might just look like something under the sea where a mermaid would live. LOL! The artist for the image is Atelier !
You can click on the link and it will take you to his Etsy shop. By the way, do you know what Atelier
means,  it means a workshop or studio! Please take time to check out this Etsy shop.
This  card was made for my cousin Susie. Her mom just passed away and we are all having a hard time adjusting to our loss. I am flying back to Missouri to attend her memorial service and to spend some time with my Uncle. I wanted to send this card along before I got there just to encourage her. I love the sweet expression the artist has captured with this image. I hope each of you will take time to let those you love  know how you feel. Tomorrow is not promised and today will pass much to quickly.
I added some Stickles to the tail and the center of the flower for some sparkle. I also used Liquid pearls for the barnacles on the rock and her bracelet. A pretty sheer ribbon and a heart sticker finished off my card.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My song: Kathy Troccoli
There is a candle in every soul
Some brightly burning, some dark and cold
And there is a spirit who brings a fire
Ignites a candle and makes his home
Carry your candle, and run to the darkness
Seek out the helpless, confused and torn
And hold out your candle for all to see it
Take your candle, and go light your world
Take your candle, and go light your world

Some Day My Prince Will Come

This SC image always makes me laugh. Perhaps she has just kissed the toad only to find he was not a prince. The image is colored with Copics I added some liquid glass to the eye of the toad.  My pretty flowers are a die cut, as are the leaves.  I added dots of Stickles around the image to add a bit of sparkle. An iridescent half pearl makes the center of the flower sparkle. A pretty sheer ribbon and bow finish off my card.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song :  Some Day My Prince will Come (Disney)
Some day my prince will come
Some day we'll meet again
And away to his castle we'll go
To be happy forever I know

Some day when spring is here
We'll find our love anew
And the birds will sing
And wedding bells will ring
Some day when my dreams come true

Wildfire

I made this card for my BFF's granddaughter. She is this tiny little thing that is all eyes, hair down past her bottom and tons of attitude. She is currently taking riding lessons and is so excited about what she is learning. She looks like a little doll sitting on this huge horse. Her primary concern is letting the horse know 'she' is the boss. LOL! Anyway, I thought this would be the perfect birthday card for her. I chose some paper that looks like wood and used some burlap paper. It is paper that has burlap glued to it. I love the extra texture it adds. I found some chevron ribbon I found at the local Dollar store and added some tiny buttons from my stash. Happy Birthday Karisma I hope your day is special.

My Song: Wildfire
She comes down from Yellow Mountain
On a dark, flat land she rides
On a pony she named Wildfire
With a whirlwind by her side
On a cold Nebraska night
Oh, they say she died one winter
When there came a killing frost
And the pony she named Wildfire
Busted down it's stall
In a blizzard he was lost
She ran callin' Wildfire

Peaches and Green?

I would not normally choose orange as a main color, but it just seemed to work with this lovely image from The Paper Shelter called "Peaches". She is a favorite of mine (and yes I know I say that about many of stamps you find there.) LOL! I added some lovely die cuts from Joanna Sheen. These are the small butterfly dies that come as a packet of two. I added some pretty iridescent pearls to each butterfly. some 'peach' colored flowers from WOC.

My Song : Summertime (Ella Fitzgerald)
Summertime, and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high
Oh, your daddy's rich and your ma is good-lookin'
So hush little baby, Don't you cry
One of these mornings you're gonna rise up singing
And you'll spread your wings and you'll take to the sky
But 'til that morning, there ain't nothin' can harm you
With Daddy and Mammy standin' by

"Three Coins In A Fountain"

Does anyone remember the old movie "Three Coins In A Fountain"? This image from The Paper Shelter called The Lady and The Fountain made me think of that movie. I worked hard on coloring the fountain to make it look like marble. I am not sure I accomplished that but I gave it a valiant effort. I added some liquid pearls just to draw your eyes to the image. I really like the green and yellow combination. I added some pretty flowers from WOC and hand punched leaves, a pretty sheer green ribbon and bow to finish off this fun card.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Three Coins in a Fountain (Frank Sinatra)
Three coins in the fountain
Each one seeking happiness
Thrown by three hopeful lovers
Which one will the fountain bless?
Three hearts in a fountain
Each heart longing for its home
There they lie in the fountain
Somewhere in the heart of Rome
Which one will the fountain bless?

Thinking of You!

A closer look at the lovely image!
 The sparkle and the sentiment!
The right inside sentiment from "Our Daily Bread"
The left hand, inside of my card, sentiment!
Good morning everyone. We woke up to a blood red sun rise thanks to all the smoke hanging in our valley. I can't believe how much of the northwest is burning. My heartfelt prayers go out to everyone who is working hard to battle these fires. Thank you for all you are doing and may God keep you safe.
This is 'ANOTHER" card using my lovely digi image by Atelier (who is really Raul Guerra). He had to change his etsy shop name to keep people from trying to buy his original art work to use as a digi. So please link to Atelier or on my side bar is a link you can also use. I spent some time coloring this image in various colors and had so much fun just playing with it. I am really disappointed with the photo of this card as it doesn't show the sparkle on this card like I wished it would. You will just have to take my work for it that is sparkles with the best of them.  Also, there is a new mermaid in the etsy shop  and she is absolutely adorable!! Be sure and check her out. I colored the image with Copics and then added Stickles to the tale and dotted Stickles around the image. I think it should remind you of the water splashing up as this sweet mermaid suns herself. (Well, that is my story!) I added some pretty iridescent
half beads from Queen and Company. I added some pretty paper lace. I think for today anyway that Stickles and lace are my favorite embellishments. I love the sparkle of the Stickles and the girly look of lace!  I hope you like this card and will check out Atelier's Etsy shop

My Song: "I'll Rise Again"
Go ahead, drive the nails in My hands
Laugh at me where you stand
Go ahead, and say it isn't Me
The day will come when you will see
 'Cause I'll rise again
Ain't no power on earth can tie me down!
Yes, I'll rise again
Death can't keep Me in the ground

Poop Happens

I wanted to share these two funny cards with you. This summer my two oldest grandsons (ages 10 and 8) wanted to work to make some money to buy themselves an X-Box. A family from our church  hired them to come and feed and water their chickens, dogs and cats. They also had to water their garden. Grammy (me) provided transportation twice a day so they could do this. If you have ever had chickens you know that they are kind of yucky (my grandson's word). But the boys were troopers and did their jobs. It was a great time to teach the boys about "a job worth doing, is worth doing well".  Plus, we talked about eggs, chickens, old dogs, and why we need to care for our animals. There second job was a three week job for our pastor and his wife. They have three cats (big, big, big) cats that live in the house. They provide four litter boxes for those  casts. So, each day we went and cleaned the litter boxes, fed and watered the cats, brought the mail in, set the trash out, and exchanged the water bottles with the delivery man. One day the youngest asked me if the next job they got could be something without poop. The oldest piped up and said, "Well, poop happens." So when I saw this image from Mo Manning, I new I would have to make them a card and tell them how proud I was of them for working so hard this summer. BTW they did earn the money for the X-box.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: I Want To Be More Like Jesus
As each day passes by, I feel my love run dry
I get so weary, worn and tossed 'round in the storm
Well I'm blind to all His needs and I'm tired of planting seeds
I seem to have a wealth of so many thoughts about myself
I want to, I need to, be more like Jesus
I want to, I need to, be more like Him

"Under The Sea"

This pretty little mermaid is from The Paper Shelter. After coloring her with Copics I added glitter to her pretty tail. I also added liquid glass to the bubbles and the cute little octopuses.  The die cuts are from CC Creations. I am sorry my pictures are  not the best as this card is so much prettier IRL. I added a sheer ribbon and bow to finish off my card. If you have not checked out The Paper Shelter Shop do so now! There are so many new images that you will be amazed at the choices.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Octopus's Garden (The Beatles)
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus's garden in the shade

I'd ask my friends to come and see
An octopus's garden with me
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden in the shade

"Back To School"

Things have been rather sad and hectic on the home front.  An Aunt who I was very close to passed away Monday morning. I will soon be heading to Missouri for the service and to spend some time with my uncle. Sunday my son tore his Achilles tendon completely away from the bone. He will have surgery today to re-attach it . He will be in a cam boot for 6-8 months. I am trying to get ready for my trip and babysitting the three grandsons. Life does not always go as planned, does it? Anyway, on to other things besides my woes.
I know I am always telling you what a great deal it is to buy digi stamps from The Paper Shelter! This card is a perfect example of why you should do so! My background paper is from the digi stamp Back to School and the digi is Autumn Attitude I mixed the two and came up with this fabulous card. (I mean the layout not that I do fabulous work!) the blue tab is a print on the paper an I just added a button. Don't you think it has so much depth? I punched the leaves out with a $ store punch that I bought years ago!  I popped them and the Autumn Attitude image with foam tape! A pretty bow and bingo sentiments finished off my card! Won't you join us this time at The Paper Shelter for our "Back To School" challenge? Maybe you can mix it up with background paper and images. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: (Gary Lewis and the Playboys)
Walk along the lake with someone new
Have yourself a summer fling or two
But remember I'm in love with you
And Save your heart for me
When the summer moon is on the rise
And you're dancin' under starlit sky
Please don't let the star gets in your eyes
Just Save your heart for me
