Last Day At The Beach!

A closer look at the stamp!
 The inside of my card.
It is hard to believe that fall is coming when the temperature is 100+. So, having said that I decided I could squeeze in this  summer card! You have to admire this ole gal, she is strutting her stuff no matter how old. LOL! I like the bright colors and the DP reminded me of beach chairs.  Just a fun card today!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Beach Baby (First Class)
Do you remember back in old l.a.
When everybody drove a Chevrolet
What ever happened to the boy next door
The sun tanned crew cut all-American male
Remember dancing at the high school hop
With everybody drinking soda pop
I didn't recognize the girl next door
With beat up sneakers and a pony tail
Beach baby beach baby give me your hand
Give me something that I can remember
Just like before we can walk by the shore in the moonlight
Beach baby beach baby there on the sand

Back To School

 A closer look!
 The inside of my card.
Here we are at the close of another summer. My grandsons are excited about heading back to school and seeing their friends, their mom is ready to get back in a routine. The little guy is sad to be left behind and can't wait to start school. As for me, I find it hard to believe that we have a 6th grader and a 5th grader. My goodness time is flying by!
OK! I will start talking about my fun card. The stamp I chose is "Ready for School". I colored her with Copics and added liquid glass to her glasses. I die cut my letters and added a pretty sheer red ribbon and boy. I chose the red, white and blue colors as they are our school colors.
It is time for another fun challenge at The Paper Shelter. This time we want to see your "Back to School" projects. Remember if you use a Paper Shelter stamp you can win a $30 gift certificate to shop with. $30 will buy you so much! So grab a stamp and show us your "Back To School!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: 1-2-3 (Len Barry)
1-2-3, oh, that's how elementary it's gonna be
C'mon, let's fall in love, it's easy
Like takin' candy  from a baby
A-B-C (A-B-C) fallin' in love with you was easy for me
And you can do it, too, it's easy
Like takin' candy  from a baby

Come On And Ring Those Bells

I know this seems early for Christmas cards but as fast as time flies for me I need to start early. My younger brother has requested I make 40 Christmas cards for him. So this is one of the cards that will go to him. Heartfelt Creations has some of the prettiest Christmas stamps and Christmas Dies. This card was made from the Festival Holiday Kit. I decided I would color the die cuts with my Copics. I am so glad I did as I love the look it gives. Crystal glitter is added to this card and the pictures doesn't reflect the pretty sparkle that is on the card.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Come On And Ring Those Bells
Everybody likes to take a holiday
Everybody likes to take a rest
Spending time together with the family
Sharing lots of love and happiness.
Come on, ring those bells,
Light the Christmas tree,
Jesus is the king
Born for you and me.
Come on, ring those bells,
Every-body sing,
Jesus, we remember
It's your birthday.

Close To You

 A closer look!
 Foameran flower!
I have had this stamp colored and cut out for over seven years! Why I went so long without putting it on a card is beyond me. She is such a cute little thing that it was easy to make her into a fun little card. I will continue to work up the images I have colored and sharing them with you. I hope you like this card and I also hope you can see an improvement in my coloring. LOL!
I am entering this card in the following challenges:

My Song: Close To You (The Carpenters)
Why do birds suddenly appear
Every time you are near?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
Why do stars fall down from the sky
Every time you walk by?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
On the day that you were born the angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue

Pretty Little Dutch Girl

A closer look at my stamp!
 The inside of my card.
Another stamp from The Paper Shelter. I have been using several of the older stamps lately from The Paper Shelter. I am amazed at the variety of stamps and how you can use them in so many ways. This stamp is called "Adorable Dutch Girl" and you can find her here. She is colored with Copics and I used a Heartfelt die to cut her out and also for the sentiment. The little flowers in the corner are my attempt at using foameran. It seems there is always something new and different to use in card making and scrapbooking.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Pretty Little Dutch Girl
I am a pretty little Dutch girl,
As pretty as pretty can be,
And all the boys around the block
Go crazy over me.
My boyfriend's name is Billy,
He comes from good ole Philly,
With a cherry on his nose
And ten fat toes,
And that's the way my story goes.
My boyfriend gave me peaches,
My boyfriend gave me pears,
My boyfriend gave me fifty cents
And kissed me on the stairs.
I gave him back his peaches,
I gave him back his pears,
I gave him back his fifty cents
And kicked....him....down.....the.....stairs!

A Thank You Note!

I like to give my hairdresser a card with a little gift tucked in every now and then. I knew this card would be perfect for her. She even wears her hair this way. It's fun to brighten someone's day with a card don't you think? This is an older digi but still fun to color.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Let Me Be There (Olivia Newton John)
Where ever you go, where ever you may wander in your life
Surely you know I always want to be there
Holding your hand and standing by to catch you when you fall
Seeing you thru in ev'rything you do
Let me be there in your morning
Let me be there in your night
Let me change whatever's wrong and make it right
Let me take you through that wonderland that only two can share
All I ask you is let me be there

The Winner

A closer look at my stamp!
 The pretty flowers!
 The inside of my card!
Another card using a stamp from The Paper Shelter. This card was made using the stamp "I Won" and you can find it here. I colored her with Copics and I love the pretty burgundy colors. Some pretty flowers and pearls finished off this card.
I am entering it at the following challenges:
My Song: I Believe In Love (Don Williams)
I don't believe in superstars
Organic food and foreign cars
I don't believe the price of gold
The certainty of growing old
That right is right and left is wrong
That north and south can't get along
That east is east and west is west
And bein' first is always best.
But I believe in love
I believe in babies
I believe in mom and dad
And I believe in you.

Punches And Dies

Is everyone enjoying hot August nights. This hot weather is a good excuse to stay inside and enjoy the cool air from the air conditioner. It's also a great time to create a few cards! We are having a great challenge at The Paper Shelter! Our challenge is "Punches and Dies". We want to see your lovely creations using punches and dies. I chose the lovely digi  "Art Deco Charm". I choose a spellbinder's die to set off the 'Art Deco' look. I added some gold gilding to the die cuts and the Thank You sentiment came off a free gift I received in the mail. I am not sure I totally captured the Art Deco look but I had fun trying.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: The Great Pretender (Freddie Mercury)
Oh yes I'm the great pretender
Pretending I'm doing well
My need is such I pretend too much
I'm lonely but no one can tell
Oh yes I'm the great pretender
Adrift in a world of my own
I play the game but to my real shame
You've left me to dream all alone
Too real is this feeling of make believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal
Ooh ooh yes I'm the great pretender
Just laughing and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not (you see)
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around

Happy Trails

I was recently asked to make a "unicorn" card for a teen girls birthday. I must admit I had never made a 'unicorn' card so I was a little lost on what to do. I had this old stamp and used it. Unfortunately, it did not meet the expectations of the young man who wanted the card and he decided not to take it. I am not sure where this card will find a home but it is now in the stash. The pretty die cut on the front is from Heartfelt Creations.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:

My Song: Happy Trails (Roy Rogers and Dale Evans)
Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.
Happy trails to you,
Until we meet again.
Happy trails to you,
Keep smiling until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song, and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you,
Until we meet again.

Yesterday!

A look at the inside of my card.
 A closer look!
Another cute stamp from The Paper Shelter. This is another one that has sat in the 'what am I going to do with this pile.' I dug it out and worked on my coloring a bit more and came up with this. The pretty purple flower was made by my friend Wendy Little. This stamp is called Serena and she can be found here.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Yesterday (The Beatles)
Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Suddenly I'm not half the man I used to be.
There's a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.
Why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Evergreen Love

Another stamp from The Paper Shelter. This is an older stamp called "Melody" you can find her here.here  I colored her with Copics and then fussy cute her out. I decided to add her  to a white on white card.  Adding a few die cut flowers, lace and frames helped to 'gussy' up this card. Some half pearls and and a ticket sentiment finished off this birthday card.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Evergreen (Barbra Streisand)
Love, soft as an easy chair
Love, fresh as the morning air
One love that is shared by two
I have found with you
Like a rose under the April snow
I was always certain love would grow
Love ageless and evergreen
Seldom seen by two
You and I will make each night a first
Every day a beginning
Spirits rise and their dance is unrehearsed
They warm and excite us
'Cause we have the brightest love
Two lights that shine as one
Morning glory and midnight sun
Time we've learned to sail above
Time won't change the meaning of one love
Ageless and ever evergreen

Veteran's Day Parade!

 A closer look!
 My boarder!
 The sentiment!
 The inside of my card!
I wish I my camera (or me) took better pictures. This card looks so much better IRL! I know we all say that but it is always true. LOL! This is part of the new release at Cute As A Button! This image is called "Veterans Day Parade"!
It also made me think of our local Fair and Rodeo. I live in a small town in Idaho and the fair is a fun time for all the local families (and singles) to get together before back to school time hits.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Ride 'em Cowboy (Paul Davis)
Traveling with the rodeo
It's the only life I'll ever know
I started in New Mexico
Must have been a thousand years ago
I used to be the best they say
At riding young wild horses for my pay
But now I'm much too old it seems
I only rides wild horses in his dreams
They use to tell me, ride 'em cowboy don't let 'em throw you down
You can't make no money if you hit the ground
They say, ride 'em cowboy don't let 'em throw you down
You're the toughest cowboy in town
I have always been a traveling cowboy
But now there's no place left to go
What in I supposed to do
Seems I'm left out in the cold
Ride 'em cowboy don't let 'em throw you down
You can't make no money if you hit the ground
They say, ride 'em cowboy don't let 'em throw you down
You're the toughest cowboy in town

I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: Patches (Bobby Vinton)
Down by the river that flows by the coal yards
Stands wooden houses with shutters torn down
There lives a girl everybody calls Patches
Patches my darling of Old Shanty town
We plan to marry when June brought the summer
I couldn't wait to make Patches my bride
Now I don't see how that ever can happen
My folks say no, and my heart breaks inside
Patches oh what can I do I swear I'll always love you
But a girl from that place
Would just bring me disgrace
So my folks won't let me love you
Each night I cry as I think of that shanty
And pretty Patches there watchin' the door
She doesn't know that I can't come to see her
Patches must think that I love her no more
I hear a neighbor tellin' my father
He says a girl name of Patches was found
Floating face down in that dirty old river
That flows by the coal yards in Old Shanty Town
Patches oh what can I do
I swear I'll always love you
It may not be right but I'll join you tonight
 Patches I'm coming to you

Happy Birthday Luke!

Bedtime Stories

This is another of the stamps that has laid in a box colored but looking for a card. It has been a challenge for me to work these up into cards as I wasn't happy the way they turned out and so after coloring them I laid them back and they have been wait for a card to call home. LOL! I think this one will go to a little boy in our church for his 1st birthday. The only embellishment I added to this card was the cute crayola buttons.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: Puff The Magic Dragon (Peter, Paul, and Mary)
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
in a land called Honnah Lee
Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal Puff
And brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff, oh!
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
in a land called Honnah Lee
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
in a land called Honnah Lee
Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail
Jackie kept a lookout perched on Puff's gigantic tail
Noble kings and princes would bow whene'er they came
Pirate ships would lower their flags when Puff roared out his name, oh!
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
in a land called Honnah Lee
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
in a land called Honnah Lee
A dragon lives forever but not so little boys
Painted wings and giant rings make way for other toys
One grey night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more
And Puff that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar
His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain
Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane
Without his life-long friend, Puff could not be brave
So Puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave, oh!
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
in a land called Honnah Lee
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
in a land called Honnah Lee

A Wedding Card

This is another stamp that I have had colored and piled tin a box to use 'later' on a card. I am slowly going through that stack and getting them all put on a card. I colored the cute stamp with Copics. I did make my foameran flowers. (The first I had made.) I like the ones I make now better but hey we all have to start somewhere! Right? I added some pretty pearls and called this card finished.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: You Don't Have To Say You Love Me (Elvis)
When I said, I needed you
You said you would always stay
It wasn't me who changed, but you
And now you've gone away
But don't you know that now you're gone
And I'm left here on my own
Now I have to follow you
And beg you to come home
You don't have to say you love me
Just be close at hand
You don't have to stay forever
I will understand
Believe me
Believe me
I can't help but love you
But believe me I'll never tie you down
Left alone with just a memory
Life seems dead and so unreal
All that's left is loneliness
There's nothing left to feel
