Happy New Year A Little Late

I don't know where my head was at the end of December and now January but, I missed posting this fun card for the new year. I love this cute stamp from The Paper Shelter. I like the fact she doesn't have the year so I can use her for as many new years cards as I want! In this case she will be for next year so I am early not late! LOL. If you haven't checked out the latest stamps at The Paper Shelter be sure and hop over and see all new items in the store. All the stamps are appropriate for all occasions!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Back To God (Reba)
Have you looked around, have you heard the sound
Mama's cryin'
Or do you turn away when you see the face
Of the innocent dyin'
In these darkest days are you not afraid
That it's too late
You gotta get down on your knees, believe
Fold your hands and beg and plead
You gotta keep on praying
You gotta cry, ram tears of pain
Pound the floor and scream His name
Cause we're still worth saving
We can't go on like this and live like this
We can't love like this
We gotta give this world back to God

Another Place, Another Time

This is a new stamp from Heartfelt Creations. It is different from most stamps I use and I have to say I had fun creating this card with it.

My Song: Delta Dawn (Tanya Tucker)
Delta Dawn what's that flower you have on?
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by?
And did I hear you say he was a meetin' you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky
She's forty one and her daddy still calls her baby
All the folks around Brownsville say she's crazy
'Cause she walks downtown with a suitcase in her hand
Lookin' for a mysterious dark-haired man
In her younger days they called her Delta Dawn
Prettiest woman you ever laid eyes on
Then a man of low degree stood by her side
And promised her he'd take her for his bride
Delta Dawn what's that flower you have on?
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by?
And did I hear you say he was a meetin' you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky

You can still build a snowman!

I think this winter will be one we remember here in Idaho. The snow, the ice, the buildings collapsing  from the heavy weight of snow, the freezing temperatures all have made for some memories. Just as all of us who live here are sick of winter and longing for spring my great niece visited from Georgia. She had never seen snow and wanted to build a snowman the very first thing. We ended up with three snowmen in our front yard. It was a good reminder for me that we can see things as a blessing or a burden. It is our choice.
I saw this cute digi stamp at Di's Digi. It made me smile and I think will be a fun birthday card for someone who has a birthday this winter.  I added some fun wooden snowflake buttons and added some pretty pearls in the center. I die cut my sentiment.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Thank You For Being A Friend (Andrew Gold)
Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down the road and back again
Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant
I'm not ashamed to say
I hope it always will stay this way
My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
Thank you for being a friend

Happy Birthday Lincoln!

Yesterday was our sweet little grandson, Lincoln's third birthday! I can hardly believe he is already three! This sweet little boy has brought so much joy and love to our family. I love to watch him at church as he makes his rounds and knuckle bumps with his 'older' guy friends. He loves to say hi to everyone and has a ready smile on his face. He is truly a gift from God. So happy birthday Lincoln may your day be filled with blessings and love!

Nuts & Bolts - Time to Celebrate!

Another guy card using my yard sale stamp. January has a lot of 'guy' birthdays so I am always scrambling trying to make 'guy' cards. Three of the guys who have birthdays in January restore old cars and some race them. So, this stamp works well for them. Score! Well worth the 75 cents I paid for it. I used a Memory box die to cut the gears out with. I added glassy accents to the lights, windows, and chrome wheels. I fussy cut the stamp and popped it with foam dots. I have lost the name of the die on the inside but it also cut the cute little clouds, plane and car.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Fun Fun Fun (Beach Boys)
Well she got her daddy's car
And she cruised through the hamburger stand now
Seems she forgot all about the library
Like she told her old man now
And with the radio blasting
Goes cruising just as fast as she can now
And she'll have fun fun fun
'Til her daddy takes the T-bird away
(Fun fun fun 'til her daddy takes the T-bird away)

Birthday Wishes!

Once in a while I like to drag out some of my older stamps and play with them again. This is a favorite of mine from Wee Stamps. I love all of the "Wee" stamps and have a file full of them to use! It might be that we have 15" of snow and -6 degrees for the high temps that gave me a desire to do something that looks a bit more warm! LOL! The paper lace die cut is from Joanna Sheen and the butterfly is a pre-made quill that I bought years ago.  I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: This Is Amazing Grace (Phil Wickham)
Who breaks the power of sin and darkness
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder
And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You lay down Your life
That I would be set free
Oh, Jesus, I sing for
All that You've done for me
Who brings our chaos back into order
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter
The King of Glory, the King of Glory
Who rules the nations with truth and justice
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance
The King of Glory, the King above all kings

Shades of Blue

Are you feeling a bit blue today. Then grab your favorite stamp from The Paper Shelter and enter our latest challenge! Our Challenge is "Shades of Blue". You make blue and the rest is up to you! How fun is that? I chose the stamp "Sweet and Shy".
I used my trusty Copics to color her and fussy cut her and then popped her with foam adhesive dots. I added some homemade paper flowers to accent the card and a die cut sentiment.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: Blue (LeAnn Rimes)
Blue
Oh, so lonesome for you
Why can't you be blue over me
Blue
Oh, so lonesome for you
Tears fill my eyes till I can't see

A Little Inspiration for January

Good morning! I hope everyone is enjoying the start of a new year. Tomorrow my brother from Georgia arrives in Idaho. He is coming to some chilly temperatures! LOL!
I wanted to share a bit of inspiration with you! I am now on the CAAB DT and I chose the
"My Baby Boy " digital image for my finished card.
I am going to attempt to show how to 'hang' your image outside of a die cut!
First choose the die cuts you will be working with.
I am using the Eyelet Oval Dies from Heartfelt Creations.

This is such a pretty die and it is one of my favorites to use. I cut the paper I would be using to back my stamped image. (Or frame)
I then lay an oval die on my hand colored digital image. I determined what portion of the stamp I wanted to hang outside the die cut. In this case I chose a portion of the 'baby bump'! I used a light pencil to mark where I would need to cut the outlines of the stamp so I could slide the die under the portion of the stamp I wanted out side the die. By cutting the outlines of the stamp you can 'hide' your cuts.
If you look close you can see where I marked with a pencil and the cut along the baby bump!
This is what your stamp should look like once you have made the die cut!
Once you erase your pencil lines, fussy cut the edges, you are ready to mount your stamped image. I added a homemade foam flower and some half pearls to finish this fun card. I hope this help those of you who have never tried this technique before. It is fun and well worth the effort.
Here is a close look!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: The Pitty, Pitty, Patter (Susan Raye)
Oh the pitty pitty patter of a little bitty feet's
Gonna pitty pitty patter through our house
A gonna be a comin' in June gonna stop our honeymoon
Cause the pitty pitty patter of a little bitty feet's
Gonna pitty pitty patter through our house
Gonna be a thinkin' of another name yeah there's gonna be a great big change

Little Deuce Coupe

I was in need a some 'guy' cards. As many of you know they are so hard for me. I struggle every time I make one. I think 'guy card' and my brain goes completely blank. I had this old stamp from a long ago yard sale purchase I had not used it, mostly because it is a big stamp and the brain thing! LOL! In desperation I finally dug it out and made this card. I colored the stamped image with Copics and added some liquid glass to the windows, lights, and chrome wheels. I fussy cut it and popped it with foam dots. Some string, button, and a die cut sentiment finished off this card.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Little Deuce Coupe (The Beach Boys)
Little deuce Coupe
You don't know what I got
Little deuce Coupe
You don't know what I got
Well I'm not braggin' babe so don't put me down
But I've got the fastest set of wheels in town
When something comes up to me he don't even try
Cause if I had a set of wings man I know she could fly
She's my little deuce coupe
You don't know what I got
(My little deuce coupe)
(You don't know what I got)

A Little Love in Your Heart!

This is a exciting posting for me as I am blessed to be a new member of Francesca's Design Team at Cute As A Button. Not only do I get to work with lovely stamps like this one, I also get to work with the friendliest, and most talented DT ever. Thank you everyone for making me feel so welcome and all your help getting me through these first postings!
I wanted you to know for the next 5 days you will receive an extra 20% off your purchases! A great time to stock up on some wonderful stamps!
I love the scripture with this super lovely stamp from Cute As A Button! What a wonderful thing to be called children of God! Plus, I love the look on this cuties face at the surprise of opening a lovely box filled with heart balloons. This was a fun color and such a versatile stamp. I layered the yellow and red balloons so they 'pop' (no pun intended)! I also added liquid glass to all the balloons to make them shine. A little white gel pen made some cute polk a dots on the dress ribbon and the cute heart barrette. I also used a red marker and colored in the words love, lavished, and children in the scripture! I added some pretty paper lace and a couple of flowers with a button bow to finish off my card.  You can find this stamp at Cute As a Button etsy here! Be sure and join in our challenge this month "Always Anything Goes".
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Put A Little Love In Your Heart (Jackie DeShannon)
Think of your fellow man
Lend him a helping hand
Put a little love in your heart
You see it's getting late
Oh, please don't hesitate
Put a little love in your heart
And the world will be a better place [x2]
For you and me
You just wait and see
Another day goes by
Still the children cry
Put a little love in your heart
If you want the world to know
We won't let hatred grow
Put a little love in your heart

Happy Retirement Wendy!

My BFF Wendy just retired. I am so happy for her as she has been under tremendous stress with her job.  She has worked hard all her life and deserves her time to enjoy life. She will now have time to create. She is the one who started me on this crazy life of card making. I love her cards and I can't wait to see what she does. Unfortunately, she has moved  to Washington and I am in Idaho but we will still make time to get together.  I know she will get a kick out of this card. I used a Polk A doodles stamp and I thought it would make her smile.  I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: Windy (The Association)
Who's peekin' out from under a stairway
Calling a name that's lighter than air
Who's bending down to give me a rainbow
Everyone knows it's Windy
Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's Windy
And Windy has stormy eyes
That flash at the sound of lies
And Windy has wings to fly
Above the clouds (above the clouds)
Above the clouds (above the clouds)

Here Comes The Sun

I don't know about where you live but here in Idaho we are experiencing winter! We have had snow, snow and more snow. The temperatures been below zero (for the high) and slip, sliding, and falling are the norm on sidewalks and driveways. I have shoveled snow until my back has protested. But, along with the snow is some of the most beautiful sights. The sparkles of the sun on snow. It looks as if God glittered the landscapes. The hoar frost on the trees, bushes, and weeds look so beautiful, even the drifts of snow against the fences are a still beauty that can only be captured by a photographer.
Of course, there is sledding, building snowmen, snow days all which create memories with those we love. This stamp makes me think of winter, being bundled up, and yet enjoying the beauty around us.
The die cuts are all from Memory Box Dies. I added some rhinestones to add a bit of sparkle. Some extra fine glitter to the hat and a bit of Spica pen to add even more sparkle to my card.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:

My Song: Here Comes The Sun (The Beatles)
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right
Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right

A Christmas Selfie!

I wanted to share this card that my 11 year old grandson made. He wanted to make a card just before Christmas and I was busy so I told him to go in my craft room and make one. He has 'played' in my room since he was a little guy and knows how to use almost everything in it. This is the card he ended up with. I thought he did a fabulous job. The cute stamp on the front is a CAAB called "selfie". The inside snowman is a Whimsy stamp. I told him we would enter his card in the following challenges:

My Song I Picked for This Card: I Am A Promise!
I am a promise,
I am a possibility
I am a promise with a capital "P";
I can be anything, anything God wants me to be...
You are a promise!
You are a possibility!
You are a promise with a capital "P"!
You are a great big bundle of potentiality!
And if you'll listen, you'll hear God's voice;
And if you're trying, he'll help you make the right choices
You're a promise to be anything He wants you to be!

Because You Loved Me

The minute I saw this stamp from The Paper Shelter, I know I had to make a card for my cousin Susan. Susan is a hair stylist and 2016 has been one of the hardest years of her life. Her mom lived many years with M.S. Susie came by every week and week-end and styled my aunts hair, painted her nails, took her shopping all the girl things we like to do. She was with my aunt the night she died. She was my uncle's rock during this long ordeal. Shortly after my aunt passed away she found out her oldest son Chad had  cancer and it was stage 4. She has worked, taken him to appointments, traveled out of state to take him to his sons college baseball games, fixed meals for him and my uncle, did his laundry, and worked full time. She has remained a rock never letting herself feel sorry for herself or never losing her faith in the Lord. Chad's life is quickly coming to an end and she is trying to prepare him and her family for what is to  come. I can not begin to imagine the heartbreak as a mother she is dealing with.  So, when I saw this stamp it made me think of her. She lets the world see this composed, caring, but in control woman. That is the outside view. The inside is scared, hurting, and so very tired. I am sending her this card to let her know she is loved and that I care.
The stamp is called "Barber Shop" and you can purchase it by clicking on the link. The petty poppy is a  new Tattered Lace die and I cut it out with white card stock  and I colored it with Copics. I then cut the petals apart on two of the poppies and layered it with foam dots.  I love the way it looks!

My Song: Because You Loved Me (Celine Dion)
For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful baby
You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You're the one who saw me through through it all
You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'cuz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me
