The Circle of Life

 A closer look!
 Another look
 The finished card.
I had a young friend from church come and play in my craft room for a few days. She is just learning about card making and scrapbooking. It was fun to teach her how to use different items and to give her a coloring lesson with my Copics. (Don't worry I told her I am still learning myself!) How about you have you reached out to someone who is just learning and helped them along the way? While Kristen was here I colored this SC image. While it is not my best coloring (it might have been the stop and go as I answered questions) it was fun to work on. It will go in my birthday stash and hopefully someone will enjoy it! I added liquid glass to the hula hoop and the cure little dangling heart. The pretty sheer ribbon and bow needed something so I added a sparkly pearl flower.  All the paper is from the scrap bin and I used a favorite combination of mine with the pink and green.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
My Song:  Circle of Life (Lion King)
From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to be seen than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
Some say eat or be eaten
Some say live and let live
But all are agreed as they join the stampede
You should never take more than you give
In the circle of life
It's the wheel of fortune
It's the leap of faith
It's the band of hope
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle, the circle of life

What Could It Be?

Here I go again with another guy card. I love this cute image I believe it is called Fergus. Doesn't he look like he is thinking 'What could this be'? I kept the colors on the image light and tried to use a 'masculine' paper! A little twine and a brad finished off my card. Did you notice the liquid glass on Fergus' nose? LOL...As you can see I am still struggling with 'guy' cards.
I hope your week is filled with blessings!
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
My Song: Garth Brooks
Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared beneath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd have to miss the dance

Spring Delights

A closer look at the image

 My ticket sentiment
A peek on the inside.
Are you ready for spring? I am! This has been a long, cold, winter with lots of illness at the Chapman household. I am ready to open windows and doors and let the fresh air flow in. Our challenge at THE PAPER SHELTER this week is "Spring Delights". I chose this image to represent the 'concerts in the park' our little town holds with the onset of spring. Different musical artists perform in our city park's band shell. the concerts are free and you just need to bring your lawn chair to enjoy the beautiful music. It is a part of small town living that I love. I hope you will play along with this challenge and remember to grab a Paper Shelter Image!  What are some spring delights you enjoy? I can't wait to see your lovely creations!  Have a blessed week!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song:  Three Dog Nights
Just an old-fashioned love song
Playin' on the radio
And wrapped around the music
Is the sound of someone promising they'll never go
You swear you've heard it before
As it slowly rambles on
No need in bringing 'em back
'Cause they're never really gone
Just an old-fashioned love song
One I'm sure they wrote for you and me
Just an old-fashioned love song
Comin' down in three-part harmony

Salute To the Soldier

 A closer look!
A friend of mine asked me to make a card for her son who just received a promotion in the USAF. I don't have many soldier stamps and so I decided to use this one. It isn't exactly USAF but I think it still works  I think. I have to come up with a congratulations on the inside but I hope this card will bring a smile to his face and make his mom happy. The image is from Dr. Digi. and the stars are just stickers. I used a bit of platinum Stickles to add some shine to the buckles, and buttons and the gold staff. A personal thank you to all the soldiers in all branches of service. I enjoy the freedoms I have because of you. May God bless each of you and keep you from harm.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: Lee Greenwood
If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away.
And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there's pride in every American heart,
and it's time to stand and say:
I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

My Mom

A metal heart frame.
A closer look!
Today is my moms birthday. Although she went home to be with the Lord 13 years ago I still miss her and often wish I could talk to her once more. When I was younger she sewed all my clothes and this dress makes me think of one she made me when I was little. I hope if your mother is still with you that you will cherish the times you have  together. Now onto my card.
I love pink and green together, maybe it is the fact that it makes me think of spring. I love this cute little image from SC and I think the pink and green looks perfect with it. I added som liquid glass to the hearts and the hair bow. Liquid pearls to the little dots around her and a touch of Spica pen added lots of sparkle to this image. Some pretty paper lace and a sheer ribbon finish off my card.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: It Was Mama
Who's the one who tied your shoe when you were young
And knew just when to come and see what you had done?
Mama, oh Mama
And who's the one who patched your eye and told you not to cry
'Cause he was too big for you to try?
Mama, Mama

If At First You Don't Succeed....try, try, again!

I had a terrible time trying to photograph this card. We are having a terrible thunder storm and the skies are dark and dreary. I kept trying but the reflective foil on the card didn't seem to like my camera either. I used this cute SC image and added just a bit of ribbon and a cute pearl flower. A few rhinestones and a bit of Stickles finished off this fun card.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: West Side Story
Tonight, tonight
It all began tonight
I saw you and the world went away
Tonight, tonight
There's only you tonight
What you are, what you do, what you say

Haunted House?

Can you believe the first day of spring is here! This has seemed like a long hard winter and I am happy to see spring coming. I decided to use some pretty spring colors on this card. The pretty paper lace is from a I.O. die. The paper all came from my scrap box. I added some liquid pearls to the hanging banner, Stickles to the candle and liquid glass to the heart on her top. Two little plastic sparkle hearts finish off my card.
I am entering this card at the following challenge:
My Song: Haunted House (Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs)
I just moved in my new house today
Moving was hard but I got squared away
When bells started ringing and chains rattled loud
I knew I'd moved in a haunted house

Dust Bunnies in My Head!

I Had such a terrible time with this card. I colored this SC image with Copics and then cut it out with the wrong die. Have you ever been mad and know there is nothing you can do about it. LOL....it seems this winter of sickness has left me with a case of dimwitted! I do hope my brain gets kicked back in gear soon! I and my grandson now have ear infections....it seems this winter will never be over. I think my house is filled with dust bunnies as I have not felt like doing a good through cleaning hence the title of my posting. I hope you are having a better week than I! LOL...and if anyone wants to come and clean the dust bunnies I will welcome the help!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song:  (Frozen)
Born of cold and winter air
And mountain rain combining
This icy force both foul and fair
Has a frozen heart worth mining
So cut through the heart, cold and clear
Strike for love and strike for fear
See the beauty, sharp and sheer
Split the ice apart
And break the frozen heart

"It's All About The Hair!"

Can you believe that we are already in our third month of the year? Time is just flying by. It is time for another fun challenge at ABC....although I will admit is was a tough one for me. If you read my blog you will know that I always struggle with hair...and our challenge this time is "H" for Hair! LOL....it was a cruel joke on me! Our lovely sponsor is "Tillda Town (where you can find this adorable image) I must admit I am loving the new Magnolia images as they have more hair (is that weird or what?). I tried to keep my card CAS and concentrate on the image. I hope you will hop on over to ABC Challenge Blog and check out the lovely work of my teammates and enter our challenge....and if any of you want to leave me some tips on coloring hair...I am all ears...no wait...I am all hair...Oh, dear, this is not going right. Just play and have fun.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: The Cowsills (now I  am telling my age)

She asks me why
I'm just a hairy guy
I'm hairy noon and night
Hair that's a fright
I'm hairy high and low
Don't ask me why
Don't know
It's not for lack of bread
Like the Grateful Dead
Darling
Gimme head with hair
Long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming,
Streaming, flaxen, waxen

Give me down to there hair
Shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there mama
Everywhere daddy daddy

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
My hair

Away With The Fairies!

I am fairly sure that you will want to join our  latest challenge at The Paper Shelter! (OK...I couldn't resist saying that!) If you haven't guessed yet our latest challenge is all about Fairies! If you don't have a favorite fairy to use then hop on over to The Paper Shelter Shop and  pick one of the adorable images and join in the fun! This is my particular favorite. I added a Magnolia Die cut flower, that I have had for several years. It is still one of my favorite dies.  Meanwhile at the Chapman household we had another round of sickness! This is the third one since Christmas and the first one lasted three weeks. This time I have ear infections, fever, sore throat. Then we got a call from the DIL and one of the grandsons we had kept for the week-end came down with pink eye. I am using far too much craft money for Dr. and RX's. I will be so glad when this winter is over!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Mercy Me
I've been the one to shake with fear
And wonder if You're even here
I've been the one to doubt Your love
I've told myself You're not enough
I've been the one to try and say
I'll overcome by my own shame
I've been the one to fall apart
And start to question who You are
You're the one who conquers giants
You're the one who calls out kings
You shut the mouths of lions
You tell the dead to breathe
You're the one who walks through fire
You take the orphan's hand
You are the one Messiah
You are I am

Time To Celebrate

Another card  for a guy's birthday. I am having fun coloring these images. I have had them for a couple of years and have not played with them much. Now, I am enjoying creating with them. I added google eyes to the fun little frog and some frog buttons. A circle tag with the center cut out looks like a life saver to me (not the candy kind!) Just a fun little card to add to my stash.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: Chris Tomlin
The splendor of a King, clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice
He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
Trembles at His voice
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Happy Anniversary!

Today is my son and DIL's anniversary! I made this card for them and tucked a little anniversary present inside. The image is from Mo Manning and the sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps. I found the pretty lace at JoAnn's. JoAnn's is a great place to buy lace, ribbon, buttons, and other odds and ends for card making and Scrapbooking.  I hope you both have a wonderful day!

Winter Birthday Card

 A closer look
 Pretty little tulle flowers
 ticket sentiment
I decided to make a winter birthday card and use this cute little image from Wee Stamps! I added some Stickles for sparkle, Spica pen on the snowflake wand. I used puffy paint on the snow and snow drops. (Isn't is fun to watch poof up?) Some pretty tulle flowers and a ticket sentiment finish off this winter birthday card.. So do you think the pink and winter work together?
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: Chris Tomlin
Lord I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You're the one that guides my heart
Lord, I need You, oh I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

A Christmas Walk

I love to color wee images. They are so cute and have such sweet faces. I thought I would add this card to my Christmas stash. I colored the image with Copics.  and added glitter to the snow, liquid glass to the holly berries, liquid pearls and a touch of Spica pen. I added some poinsettia buttons. The paper is all from the scrap box.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song; Chris Tomlin

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, Amazing grace

"G" is for the Girls

March in Idaho is always a mix of weather. It may be sunny one day and snowing the next. I decided to use a sunny color on my snowy card!  Our fun challenge is at ABC is "G" for the Girls. The Paper Shelter is our lovely sponsor and this is one of the fun winter images you can find in their store. She ski's like I do! LOL!
My lovely snowflakes are a Cherry Lynn Die that my sweet friend Elaine sent me for Christmas. I love the delicate beauty of each. I added a yellow rhinestone to the center of each and a foam pop dot to raise them up. I also added a snowflake button to my circle sentiment.I added white fluff to the fur on her snow suit. I also added some glitter to the snow. A bit of Spica pen to the ski poles and her button finished off my card.  So grab your 'girly' stamps and join us at ABC Challenge. You could win a fabulous prize. Please take time to look at my teammates cards they are fabulous!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: What Ever She's Got
She's a little complicated
She'll make her mind up just to change it
The kind of girl that keeps you waitin', waitin' around
She likes to get her toes done bright red
She's always reapplying her lipstick
The muddy river bank shes the first in and last out
She's got something I can't figure out
That everybody's talking about
Shes got the blue jeans painted on tight
That everybody wants on a Saturday night
She got the mood ring, she's never the same
She's sunny one minute then she's pouring down rain.
And she'll do whatever she wants
And when she moves every jaw's gonna drop
And I do but I don't want her to stop
I want, I want I want whatever she's got
I want whatever she's got
