An Early Valentine Card

Since I am dragging myself from the bed to the couch and back again, I decided to try and focus on something besides how miserable I feel. So I colored this SC  image. Plus, my sweet friend Elaine sent me this lovely paper and I am torn between hoarding it and using every single piece as it is so lovely! Thanks! Elaine...I love it! My paper lace is from IO. I will probably used this for a valentine card but who knows it would be a great birthday card also. My last card for the year 2013....looking forward to 2014.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: (Not really sure this is a real song...but it fits for New Years!)
May tomorrow be a perfect day
May you find love and laughter along the way
May God keep you in His tender care
Till He brings us together again
May the sunshine deep within your heart
When sorrows bring sadness and tears would start
May the memory of the love we share
Reassure you that someday, somewhere
We’ll walk hand in hand, the time is very near
The moments we long for are almost here
I’ll be with you, you’ll be with me
Together we’ll love once again
“Good night everybody” Happy New Year!

A Birthday Card For A Guy!

I don't know about you but I have a hard time with cards for men. They are either to girly or to baby. It is just hard for me to think 'guy'. LOL! Do any of you struggle with this problem? I made a few futile attempts at a birthday card for an older man in our church and I finally settled on this. I am still not happy with it but it will have to do as I am out of time and nothing new is leaping out of my brain. At least he will know that I remembered his birthday. LOL! The image is a Stampin Up one that I have had several years. I did add some extra grass at the bottom to fill in my oval. But I just noticed that I didn't fill in the top of the oval.
I hope you all will stay safe tonight and enjoy the blessings the new year brings.

A Winter Birthday Card

The Chapman household is enjoying the aftermath of Christmas and the flu. Our sweet little grandson was sick Christmas Day and now the rest of the family is dropping like flies. So, not too much happening here. I look around and see all the decorations that need to be taken down and stored away and think, 'maybe tomorrow!' Right now the couch and a warm blanket are my comfort zone. This is a card that I started before Christmas and was intended to be a Christmas card, but I will admit I have a few that I didn't get finished and so I am trying to convert them to birthday cards. I love this cute little Magnolia and the pink and green is one of my favorite color combinations. I used a Memory box die for the topper and sprinkled some glitter on it for a bit of shine. I used Spica pen on my snowflakes and then liquid pearls for the centers. I loved the effect. A LOTV sentiment circle finishes off this fun card.

A Winter Chill

A closer look.

 A look at the snow.
I made this card for a sweet lady at church who's birthday is January 1st! Happy Birthday Frieda! I have always loved coloring this sweet image from "Wee Stamps" I thought she made a lovely Birthday card. I used my new Spellbinder Icicle die. It made a nice little topper on this card. I colored my image with Copics and then added Glitter to the wings. I used a touch of Spica pen on her diamonds on the sweater and her leg warmers. Liquid glass added shine to the berries and puffy paint made the snow on the branch. I  love the lavender and turquoise combination! How about you?
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: This Is Amazing Grace
This is amazing grace
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You would lay down Your life
That I would be set free
Jesus, I sing for
All that You've done for me

Twas the Night Before Christmas

A closer look

A pretty bauble on the snowflakes

\
 LOTV Sentiment

My husband pointed out to me how much I like Christmas lights and 'shiny things'. I have to admit it is true as I have as many Christmas lights as I can find room for in our house and all kinds of 'shiny, glittery, Christmas items as our little house will hold. (If I could leave Christmas up all year long I would not mind it. So, when Christmas Eve is here I am always a bit sad as I know the shiny, glitter, things along with the pretty Christmas lights will soon be tucked away for another year. Much to my husbands relief! LOL! So, I made this little card to share with each of you. I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and that you will each enjoy your family, friends and those you love this year.
For my sweet friend Amanda, I am praying for you and your family during this difficult time. Please know you are loved and as difficult as this Christmas is for you better ones will come  with  the blessings of wonderful memories of your dad. He is singing with the angels and free of pain and all the frailties our bodies go through.I was thinking of you in particular when I made this card. Like this Precious Moment image we still have to go on with life and the daily chores even when we are hurting. But, the same God who blankets our world with the beautiful snowflakes also provides for us all our needs. Also, He provides those little friends (see that cute little bird) to encourage us.
Merry Christmas to all....
The Angels Cried (Alan Jackson)

They came from near
They came from far
Following a distant star
To where he lay.
Not being sure of what it meant
But knowing it was Heaven sent
They made there way.
And the creatures gathered 'round
And didn't make a sound
And the Angels cried.
The angels knew what was to come
The reason god has sent his son from up above
It filled their hearts with joy to see
And knowing of his destiny
Came tears of love.
And the creatures gathered 'round
And didn't make a sound
And the Angels cried.
I've often thought about that night
And wondered if they realized that star so bright
Was sent to tell all of the land the son of god
Would soon become the son of man
And the creatures gathered 'round
And didn't make a sound
And the Angels cried.

"Almost Christmas"

Does that title scare you? Not me, I am awaiting a few things to come in the mail and I will be all done with my shopping. Everything is wrapped except what I am waiting for! My title is also our latest challenge at "ABC CHALLENGES". It should put each of us in the mood for some Christmas cheer! I love this beautiful image from "The Paper Shelter" our lovely sponsors! Such a sweet little Christmas Fairy! I used a DP that has been in my scrap box for several years for the background of my card. I believe it and the bottom piece came from the same pad, but it has been far too long for me to remember! The cute little hearts are a die cut from Memory Box. The paper lace is a Tim Holtz die cut. I added some half pearls for some pop of color. The candy canes are buttons and the sentiment is from LOTV. A little Spica pen and white gel pen finished off this fun card.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song:  Trisha Yearwood
The city's decorated up for Christmas
All the stores are open late tonight
People hurry through the frozen streets
I take a walk...
Every child has a thousand wishes
Every window has a thousand lights
Every soul has a need for peace
I take a walk...
There's a star that still outshines the night
You can find it if you close your eyes
And see the light
Take a walk through Bethlehem
Come and kneel before the lamb
Good news for every man
Walk through Bethlehem

Shopping Spree......it's done for Santa!

It is time for a fun challenge at THE PAPER SHELTER CHALLENGE BLOG!!!  Our challenge is "Shopping Spree". Now, you may be wondering what this card has to do with a "Shopping Spree"? Well, Santa has all his shopping done for 2014! (Hey! It's my card and I can tell the story! LOL!  I am also going to let you in on a secret I have my Christmas shopping done for this year and I have most of it wrapped! Amanda and Elaine do you hear thunder? That is my feet doing the happy dance! I swore this year I was not going to be running around at the last minute like I was last year. This cute little Santa from THE PAPER SHELTER  reminds me that I might get some rest this Christmas. I used two Memory Box dies to cut the pine branches and pine cones. I added white fluff to the beard and puffy paint to the trim on Santa's suit. adds lots of layers. I hope you will grab a image from THE PAPER SHELTER  and join us this week. Then get out there and shop! (Psssst....be sure and check out the lovely team mates work it is fabulous. (And we have some fabulous new talent on our team!)
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: (My grandsons choice!)
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.

The Season Never Grows Old!

The Christmas season will soon be upon us. I am hoping we can all focus on the true meaning of "Christ"mas.
At the Chapman household we are looking forward to having all the family together this year. It has been several years since we were all able to gather together. We are also looking forward to the birth of a new grandchild. We are so blessed in many ways. This sweet image is from The Paper Shelter and she looks as though she has rescued a little lost kitty. I stamped some trees with a Magnolia stamp and fussy cut them and then added a bit of color and glitter to them. I love how the snow looks sparkly! My colors are a bit unusual, but I do like them! I hope each of you will have a blessed Christmas!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: Ann Murray
Christmas is coming, I can tell by the smiles
I remember the snowflakes that fell from the sky
And covered the village that lay sleeping below
Thank goodness this season will never grow old

The Angels Cried

I instantly fell in love with this angel the first time I saw it and so I knew it would have to join my stash. I was thrilled to get to color her. I wanted the colors to be be very muted on this card. I am not sure I achieved that , but I had fun trying. I used a fun Cherry Lynn die to cut out all my fun snowflakes. I then added a gold pearl to the center of all (but one...just noticed that)! Oh, dear, I do hate when I see mistakes after I have posted  my cards.. tisk, tisk! I used a Spellbinders die to cut the image out  and let her feet hang outside the frame.  My Musical die is a new one from Memory Box and I love it. I tried to keep this card CAS. Not sure if I accomplished that but for me it as close as it is going to get.
My Song (Alan Jackson)
They came from near
They came from far
Following a distant star
To where he lay.
Not being sure of what it meant
But knowing it was Heaven sent
They made there way.
And the creatures gathered 'round
And didn't make a sound
And the Angels cried.

Isn't He Wonderful?

I think this little guy is so cute. Maybe it's because we will have a new little baby in our family in February or that fact I just like this image!
My Song:
Isn't He wonderful? Wonderful!
Isn't Jesus my Lord wonderful.
Eyes have seen, lips have heard,
It is written in His word
Isn't Jesus my Lord Wonderful?

Zebra Stripes!

I must admit that zebra stripes are a bit of a stretch for me. I really struggled with this card as I just couldn't  seem to figure out the right way to embellish it and felt it was a bit blah! But I made it for our ABC  Challenge. I must admit I am looking forward to seeing your creations and hoping to learn from you! So hop on over to our ABC Challenge Blog and be sure and check out my DT mates lovely work! Have a great day!

A Thank You to Our Pastor Lance

Last month was "Pastor Appreciation". I had made these cards for our pastor and had not taken time to post them yet. I wanted to share them with you. The images are 'free coloring pages'! I am still not sure if that is what they are or not, but I refuse to get into that debate so please don't leave me comments concerning this matter. I felt these images fit our pastor. The first card is one that I gave him from our family and the second I made for the church to give him. So, Pastor Lance, thank you...you bless our lives in so many ways.
My Song: Ray Boltz
I dreamed I went to heaven
And you were there with me
We walked upon the streets of gold
 Beside the crystal sea
We heard the angels singing
 Then someone called your name
You turned and saw this young man
And he was smiling as he came
And he said, FriendYou may not know me now
And then he said, But waitYou used to teach my Sunday School
When I was only eight
And every week you would say a prayer
Before the class would start
And one day when you said that prayer
I asked Jesus in my heart

For Someone Special

I am not sure what happened to this post, for the first time my pictures posted and nothing else. So, I went back into my post and the wonderful post writting I had labored over was gone! I am sure it couldn't have been something I did wrong! LOL! Anyhow, it is time for another challenge at THE PAPER SHELTER this week  we want you to make a card "For Someone Special". I decided to make a card for each of the grandkids to give to their teachers. I hope they know what precious gifts they are being entrusted with. You can find this wonderful image here. While you are there be sure and check out the wonderful Christmas images, you will love them. I hope you will join us for the fun this week.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:

My Song: Chuck Barry
Up in the mornin' and out to school
The teacher is teachin' the Golden Rule
American history and practical math
You studyin' hard and hopin' to pass
Workin' your fingers right down to the bone
And the guy behind you won't leave you alone
Ring, ring goes the bell
The cook in the lunch room's ready to sell
You're lucky if you can find a seat
You're fortunate if you have time to eat
Back in the classroom, open your books
Gee but the teacher don't know how mean she looks

You have to love those snowmen!

I love this cute little guy. But, I love snowmen of all kinds. I have quiet a few that I put out at Christmas and they always make me smile. The cute guy from Sassy Cheryl's  looks as if he knows the true meaning of Christmas! I think I might have become the 'Glitter Queen" on this card. I added some pretty white glitter to the snow (although it looks like silver in my picture. I also used the same glitter on the star. I added Stickles to the pine cones, pine needles and the snowflakes. I actually have the pine cones raised with foam pop ups, the stars, the sentiment and the star. It was an old roll and very thin but I like the effect.   I hope your week is going well and that you took time yesterday to thank a VET. We are free today because they fought for our freedoms. God bless you each and everyone.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
My Song: The Christmas Star
On that magic night in Bethlehem, on the birthday of our Lord
The angels sang and the heavens rang with tidings of great joy
And on that night, an angels choir had journeyed from afar
The greatest gift that God could give became the Christmas Star

Tis The Season

I love Wee Stamps and was thrilled when I saw this cute Christmas image. I have started seeing those "" days until Christmas notifications. I am so looking forward to the holidays this year as for the first time in many years our family will all be together and that is what makes the holidays special for me. Anyway, back to my card. It is full of sparkle wherever you look. I really love the warm browns and reds together. I glued glitter on for the snow. It looks silver in the picture but really is white. My winter pictures always seem to be a bit off. I added some Stickles and Spica pen for the rest of my sparkle. Just a fun Christmas card to add to the stash. Have a wonderful day and focus on your blessings today.
My Song: Holly Jolly Christmas
Have a holly, jolly Christmas;
It's the best time of the year
I don't know if there'll be snow,
But have a cup of cheer.
Have a holly, jolly Christmas;
And when you walk down the street
Say Hello to friends you know
And everyone you meet.
