Luke's Christmas Card For His Dad!

Hi, my name is Luke and my grammy lets me use all of her stuff in her craft room. I wanted to make a card for my dad for Christmas. I made this card all by myself. I told my grammy that I wanted to enter it in some contests so she is showing me how to do that. I hope you like my card!
I am entering this card in the following contests (my grammy calls them challenges).

My Song: Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there's no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe
She'd been drinkin' too much egg nog
And we'd begged her not to go
But she'd left her medication
So she stumbled out the door into the snow
When they found her Christmas mornin'
At the scene of the attack
There were hoof prints on her forehead
And incriminatin' Claus marks on her back
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walkin' home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there's no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe

Anything Goes Challenge at The Paper Shelter

A closer look!

It is just about time for the year 2015 to come to an end. For me it had so many blessings, and some sorrows. It was a year I said good-bye to a wonderful uncle and my favorite aunt. My uncle died of colon cancer and my sweet aunt died of complications of MS. Both are horrid diseases and hard for those who love the individuals to watch the ravages they take. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend my Aunt's memorial service. She lived in Republic Missouri and my sweet husband made it possible for me to fly there and spend a week with my favorite uncle. My uncle gave me several mementos of my aunts. We spent each night talking to wee hours of the morning. For me it was a special time and I feel so blessed to have had such special people in my life. This card is a thank you to send to him.  Ok, enough about me and on to my card.
We are having a fun and easy challenge at THE PAPER SHELTER  it is "Anything Goes". You can do anything you want and show us your talent! Remember if you use a Paper Shelter stamp you could win a prize of $30 dollars to spend at the Paper Shelter Shop.
So grab your favorite Paper Shelter Stamp and show us your stuff.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Sissy's Song (Alan Jackson)
Why did she have to go
So young I just don't know why
Things happen half the time
Without reason without rhyme
Lovely, sweet young woman
Daughter, wife and mother
Makes no sense to me
I just have to believe
She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with Jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
Don't worry 'bout me

Is anyone like me and just not ready for this year to be over? It has flown by and I am not quiet ready for Christmas to come! But, as the saying goes 'ready or not'! It is also your last chance to play with ABC Challenge this year! This challenge should chase your winter blues away. We want you to go "X"-treme! Show us your bright and bold colors. I will tell you that my colors are brighter than they appear in the pictures....but it is a dreary dark day and my photo skills are limited! The stamp is a Saturated Canary and you can find a whole array  of lovely rubber at one of our lovely sponsors "Stamp and Create". You may want to grab some to help Santa fill your stocking! All of my die cuts are from Marianne Design. The front of the card die is a set called Anja's Flowers Border. I added pearls, rhinestones, charms and glitter to finish off this card.
I hope you will join us at our fun challenge and show us your "X" tremely bright colors!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: (Because I am missing some very special people this year)
"A Different Kind of Christmas"
The lights around the Christmas tree don't burn as bright
And all around the world it isn't a silent night
Outside I hear the voices sing the sweetest sounds of caroling
But somehow there's a sadness in the song
In our hearts we know that something's wrong
It's a different kind of Christmas
In a different kind of world
Even though it looks the same
Everything has changed
It's a different kind of Christmas
Children opening gifts with wonder and surprise
I wish that I could still see through such innocent eyes
I used to feel so safe inside I had a place to run and hide
In my daddy's arms I felt secure
No one can protect us anymore
  Everything has changed
It's a different kind of Christmas
Sending cards that talk of peace and love and cheer
Oh that's what we need if we'd only believe
It would be!
Everything has changed
It's a different kind of Christmas

The King is Coming

I warned you a third card was coming with this lovely image! The artist  is Atelier   he has added some new digi's to his shop so be sure and click the link and take a look! I think this one will always be one of my favorites! I decided to do this card in warms gold colors....although in the pictures it look yellow in RIL it is gold. The brown paper has gold foil anchors.  I used an old Martha Stewart punch for my lace edge, bits and pieces from the scrap box were my papers. I added a pretty little bow and a star fish charm and three rhinestones, A bit of Stickles and Liquid Pearls finished off my card. I am waiting to add a sentiment when I have a need for this card. My title of this post corresponds with the song I chose. I tried to create a look of tear about to spill over from the mermaids eyes as she awaits the King's return!
I am entering this card at the following  challenges:

My Song: The King is Coming
The marketplace is empty,
No more traffic in the streets,
All the builders' tools are silent,
No more time to harvest wheat;
Busy housewives cease their labors,
In the courtroom no debate,
Work on earth is all suspended
As the King comes thro' the gate.
O the King is coming,
The King is coming!
I just heard the trumpets sounding,
And now His face I see;
O the King is coming,
The King is coming!
Praise God, He's coming for me!
Happy faces line the hallways,
Those whose lives have been redeemed,
Broken homes that He has mended,
Those from prison He has freed;
Little children and the aged
Hand in hand stand all aglow,
Who were crippled, broken, ruined,
Clad in garments white as snow.
I can hear the chariots rumble,
I can see the marching throng,
The flurry of God's trumpets
Spells the end of sin and wrong:
Regal robes are now unfolding,
Heaven's grandstand's all in place,
Heaven's choir now assembled,
Start to sing "Amazing Grace!"

Let It Snow!

I know there are a few of you who do not like the thought of snow. But, I am hoping we get lots of snow this year. My part of the country really needs it! This cute image is from Mo Manning. She like me is just waiting for that snow to come! I colored her with Copics and then used my Crop-a-dial to gently emboss some snow coming down.  I kept it pretty simple and just added a pretty silver ribbon and bow, with a few little jingle bells. I punched out a few simple snowflakes and added some half rhinestones to finish off my card.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: My Name is Christmas Carol
I was playin Santa Claus downtown on Christmas Eve
When a little girl of three or four climbed up onto my knee
I could tell she had a Christmas Wish behind those eyes of blue
So I asked her what's your name, and what can Santa git for you
She said my name is Christmas Carol, I was born on Christmas Day
I dont know who my daddy is, and mommy's gone away.
All I want for Christmas is someone to take me home.
Does anybody want a Christmas Carol of their own

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

We are still waiting for our first snowfall this winter. I am hoping we will have some for Christmas. I know my grand kids would love to play in it. I chose to use non-traditional colors on this Christmas card. Some pretty sparkly rhinestones add the bling to this card. The little bird stamp was  a freebie that was included in a stamp order. I don't remember from whom but it is so cute that I like to use it often. I thought it was perfect with this cute image.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: Snow Bird (Anne Murray)
Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean
The unborn grass lies waiting for its coat to turn to green
The snowbird sings the song he always sings
And speaks to me of flowers that will bloom again in spring
When I was young my heart was young then, too
Anything that it would tell me, that's the thing that I would do
But now I feel such emptiness within
For the thing that I want most in life's the thing that I can't win
Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you
Where it came from on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know that I would
Fly away with you

For our fabulous birthday challenge I have chosen "Autumn Trends", which you can find here. As you can see I chose to color her in not so autumn colors. Which just goes to show you just how versatile this stamp is! I added  some pretty half pearls which I colored to match my paper. Liquid glass made her glasses look all the more realistic. Some pretty, glittery washi tape added more visual interest and a ticket sentiment finished the front of my card. I then added two sentiments to the inside of the card. No doubt about it this is a 'special' birthday card.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: You Say It's Your Birthday ( Beatles)
You say it's your birthday
It's my birthday too--yeah
They say it's your birthday
We're gonna have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you.
Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party
Yes we're going to a party party.

Happy Birthday to The Paper Shelter! You are one of the greatest companies to design for! I love all your images and I am honored to be on your team!

"W" Is For Wishes

Has everyone got their Christmas tree up? I am one of those crazy people who love to have my house decorated inside and out for Christmas. (My husband on the other hand...not so much!) But, it does bring me joy to see all the pretty lights and the sparkle on the tree. It is time for fun at ABC Challenge. This time our letter is "W" and we are asking for Wishes! Make sure your card has a sentiment wish. This can be a Christmas wish, or birthday wish etc. Our lovely sponsor is "Polkadoodles"
They have the cutest images and such a wide variety to choose from. I chose "Hollybobs Mistletoe Kiss"
You can click on the link and go directly to the shop. I colored my cute image with Copics and added falling snow with my Crop-a-dial. I added some die cut branches and then added rhinestones for a bit of sparkle. Just a fun card to add to my Christmas stash. Please come and join the fun and you may be the winner of a fabulous prize from our sponsor "Polkadoodles"
I am entering this card at the following challenges:
My Song: Christmas Time Is Here (Vince Gill)
Christmas time is here
Happiness and cheer
Fun for all that children call
Their favorite time of the year
Snowflakes in the air
Carols everywhere
Olden times and ancient rhymes
Of love and dreams to share
Sleigh bells in the air
Beauty everywhere
Yuletide by the fireside
And joyful memories there
Christmas time is here
Families drawing near
Oh, that we could always see
Such spirit through the year
