OWH Stars and Stamps: Midweek Throwdown Challenge - Christmas In July

OWH Stars and Stamps: Midweek Throwdown Challenge - Christmas In July

What a Wonderful World!---This One's for You Miss Elsa!

This Card is for my dear friend Wendy's oldest granddaughter Elsa. She is such a little sweetheart and explained to me all about music in bathrooms. I am also using this for a challenge that was supposed to be ruffles! I am hoping I can find the challenge now! My image is a Magnolia and I love it. The dark cardstock is actually dark brown but appears as black in the picture.  I hand stitched the pink around the image and also added a gathered ribbon skirt. I added stickles to the tiara, ribbons on her shoes and the star dust around her. The butterflies on the inside of the card were some old stickers i have had on hand for several years, they are actually pink with lots of sparkle but they look kind of orange in the picture. It must be our smoky sky! Have a great week-end and Elsa enjoy your visit from Oma and Papa!

Let It Snow! or Who Me?

My entry for Christmas in July. Such a cute image and reminds me of my grandson Luke when he is getting ready to blast you with a snowball. I layered two dp for the background, then mounted the image on a crackled print, dark olive green, card stock. The image is a digi image from "Mo's Digital". I used SU chalk and a cotton puff to add color to the background image, I colored the image with copics, I glued on little plastic snowflakes and used viva glitter to add bling to them. I used stickles on the snowball and a touch on the footprints. The "Let It Snow" (which doesn't show up well in the picture) sentiment is a button. Hope you like this card it was a fun one to make!

Happy Birthday

Just a fun little card to use one of my "Inky Impression" stamps. I have such fun with those stamps. I used all 'scrap' pieces of paper on this project. I love using up those scraps. The card stock is a creamy colored brown. I add a dark chocolate brown that I embossed with a cuttlebug (flower) folder. (Sorry I don't know the name!) I used a nestability to cut out the pendant and repeat the creamy brown in the center. This was punched with a SU scallop punch. I colored my image with copics and then paper pieced her top, hat, patches on the jeans and the bottom strip on the jeans. If you have never paper pieced this is more work than it appears. I mounted my image with dimensional tape and popped the flower with a small dimensional. I added some paper flowers and stamped the sentiment with a happy birthday stamp from SU.

"Magnolia Mermaid"

I love the new Magnolia Stamps! I colored this Mermaid with Copics, sponged the edges with SU More Mustard? ink and added Diva Pearls to the bubbles. This card is for my wonderful Aunt Ellene who has MS and is struggling with the effects it is having on her. Please keep her in your prayers. I hope this card will brighten her day! I love you Auntie!

"BYE"

There is a book by Karen Kingsbury called "Let Me Hold You Longer", it is a beautiful story and reminds each of us to hold on to the 'lasts' in our children's lives. This digi image from "Mo's" makes me think of my two grandsons. They live in Wyoming and we get to see them every three or four months. Each time they have changed so much it just breaks my heart how much we are missing of their lives. I want to hold onto each moment with them. The younger one was riding his 'skooter' and would say 'bye grammy' each time he road past me. I make this card for you Logan! (sniff) Ok, I colored the image with copics, added spica to the reflector, car lights and the flyer's on the handlebars. I used die-namics ric-rac die, cuttlebug polk-a-dot embossing folder and odds and ends for the rest of the card. A cute image although tear stained!

"Off To School"-- Miss Alaina This One's For You!

My image is found at "Mo's Digi Stamps". This image reminded me of my dear friend Wendy's second granddaughter. She has three adorable granddaughters two have white cotton blond hair and the biggest blue eyes in the world and they also wear the cutest little glasses. The little one has beautiful red hair and blue eyes. Their 'Oma' misses them as they have moved away and she does not get to see them as often as she likes. (I fully understand!) Anyway, I colored the image with copics and cut it out. I added spica to the glass frames, buttons, and bows in the hair. (I really struggled trying to color a cotton top hairdo!) I had (yes) a scrap of some very strange wonderful foam that is textured on one side and foam on the back. It was just the right shade of yellow/orange to set this image off. I mounted the image with dimensional tape.  I dug into the scrap box for the dp lavender check, and the solid lavender corners. I add the polk-a-dot flower and glued a button on for the finishing touches. The corner and sentiment label are SU and the sentiment is from an unknown set. Let me know if you have suggestions for "cotton-top hair"!

Happy Birthday Dear Robin!

My dear friend Robin is turning "50" this month. I can't wait to give her a "black" day. I wanted to do a special card for her. I loved giving this image a grey hairdo. The look on her face seems to go with the big '50'. Don't you agree? I layered black card stock with a dp of black and white stripe, added a layer of cream with black polk-a-dots. I add a black with white polk-a-dot ribbon, a black and white plaid heart. I edged the heart with red spica to add a little bling, I cut the 50 out with my Cricut and then used my silver spica to add polk-a-dot bling. I cut red felt with my dynamic ric-rac cutter, added black and white plaid ribbon and then topped the corner off with paper roses. I will deliver this with some black balloons to her work place. It should be lots of fun. She is nine years younger than me and has already had fun with my 50th now it's my turn! Blessings to all! This will be my last post for about two weeks. We are leaving tomorrow to drive to Wyoming to pick up our grandsons Luke and Logan. Then we will drive back home Monday and the boys will come with us and stay until the 30th, when we will return them home. I am so looking forward to my grammy time. My life is so blessed and I am truly grateful for all that the Lord has given me.

Magnolia Christmas Card

I am still trying to come up with my perfect Christmas card. I love the 'easel' card for Christmas. That seems to be when I display my cards the most and I would like to use this style this year. My image is Magnolia, colored with copics. The way my camera took the picture it almost looks like the lantern is lit. lol The dp had such a pretty snowflake pattern, I decided to cut three out and used dimensionals to pop them. I add a pearl to the center of each. The sentiment is from Close to My Heart. Hope you enjoy this Christmas card.

Happy Birthday Luke

My grandson "Luke" is turning five in August. He likes to sing "Beat It". Grammy and Papa just crack up when he and his little brother Logan perform for us. Luke is very serious when he does this which makes it all the more fun. I thought this would be the perfect image for his birthday card this year. I layered my dp and colored the image with Copics. I added Diva Paper Glaze to the guitar and the sun glasses. I used a silver Spica pen  for the cord. I had a scrap piece of black and silver cording that I added to the edge of the card. The sentiment is from SU and I used a star SU punch to pop it. Love you Luke, Grammy can't believe you will soon be five, you are my sunshine and one of the greatest blessings in my life.

Totally Tilda Challenge

This is such a fun challenge! I love using chocolate and anytime I can use my "Tilda" stamps I am happy. This image is such a cutie and has so many applications. I just thought of a little girl at a barn dance, yes we have those in Idaho. In fact I went to a few years ago. The cardstock and all paper came from my (gulp) surplus....or scrap box. The flowers are from "Wild Orchards" and the sentiment is from SU. I added faux stitching and also added a self stick thread to the hay bale. I had to add a little bling with my Spica's and colored the image with Copics. This card is intended for a a very dear friend who is having a birthday this month.  Blessings to each of you!

The Christmas Gift -- Totally Tilda Challenge

I created this card for the "Totally Tilda" challenge. What fun to get to play with my favorite images. I love this Tilda and must admit she is a favorite of mine. I used SU chocolate chip card stock for my base. The cream was a scrap piece that I used my Cuttlebug embossing folder on. The image was colored with Copic markers and I used just a 'little' green in my creamy chocolate card. The pearls are also colored with Copics. The sentiment is from Close to My Heart and the ribbon came from our new Hobby Lobby. I used pop dots to make the sled and Tilda stand out.I used VersaMark Dazzle to stamp the snowflakes on the inside. they add that special bling that I like.   I would have never thought of using 'chocolate' for a Christmas card but it does seem to work. What do you think?

Magnolia Happy Birthday

My daughter thought Tilda needed a happy smile on her face for this birthday greeting. She is so adorable I think she looks cute either way. This is such a bright color combination it has to put a smile on your face.

Birthday Fairy

I have a July filled with Birthday's so, I am trying to come up with something special for each special person in my life. I am blessed to have such good friends that make birthdays fun for me. I hope I can return that gift to them.

Christmas in July?

I was having one of those cards? You know, when the creative juices just won't come together. This was one of those cards. I had a vision and this definitely wasn't it. I did have fun paper piecing her dress, hat, and stockings. I guess I will chalk this one up to learning from my mistakes. lol.

Birthday Wishes

I must admit I do like this Image. such a fun one to play with. This is my first attempt at an easel card! They are so much fun to make a great choice for my Christmas cards.
