Looking Back On Summer

A closer look at the stamp!
This is an older SC stamp I have. I colored the image at the first of summer and it sat around for such a long time and I finally got it made up into a card. I used my favorite spring and summer combo of pink and white. I think it just looks like summer and fits this stamp well.
I have been mulling over the events of this last week. I have served on several DT's over the years and some I loved and some I  didn't. What I have noticed as of late is a small faction of women have become quiet vitriolic in their comments and opinions. When I first started blogging I was so fortunate to make friends with people like Elaine Livesey, Shirley Chalmers, Glenda Brooks, Amanda Reed, Janie Printz and many more. All were genuine, kind, and supportive. Today I read a comment from a lady about someone else and she was talking to a particular group and said someone should bring her down. I was so saddened to think that there are more and more people in the crafting world who have become for lack of a better word less than kind. I was taught if you couldn't say something nice do not say anything. So, I am not going to say anything but to remind each of us to BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER! Please don't use social media to trash someone. It is not to hard to see (especially in America today) that our country has turned from God and His teachings. If we can just show love to one another then maybe we can make a difference in our world.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:

My Song: Everyday People (Sly and the Family Stone)
Sometimes I'm right and I can be wrong
My own beliefs are in my song
The butcher, the banker, the drummer and then
Makes no difference what group I'm in
I am everyday people, yeah yeah
There is a blue one who can't accept the green one
For living with a fat one trying to be a skinny one
And different strokes for different folks
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo
Oh we got to live together
I am no better and neither are you
We are the same whatever we do
You love me you hate me you know me and then
You can't figure out the bag I'm in
I am everyday people, yeah yeah
There is a long hair that doesn't like the short hair
For bein' such a rich one that will not help the poor one
And different strokes for different folks
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo
Oh sha sha we got to live together
There is a yellow one that won't accept the black one
That won't accept the red one that won't accept the white one
And different strokes for different folks
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo
I am everyday people

A Card of Many Folds

Here we are ready to start the holiday season. A time that is so busy. I hope everyone will take time to stop and enjoy the true meaning of this season. A time to be thankful, for all we have been given, a time to open our hearts and remember what Christmas is all about. I am sending this card off to someone that may need a lift during this time of year. Our challenge at The Paper Shelter is A card of many folds. I hope you like this one it has been fun to do and I love this stamp called  "Where we going". So grab you favorite Paper Shelter stamp and join the fun.
I am entering this card a the following challenges:

Me and Bobby McGee
Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waitin' for a train
And I's feelin' near as faded as my jeans
Bobby thumbed a diesel down, just before it rained
It rode us all the way to New Orleans
I pulled my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna
I was playin' soft while Bobby sang the blues, yeah
Windshield wipers slappin' time, I was holdin' Bobby's hand in mine
We sang every song that driver knew
Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
Nothin', don't mean nothin' hon' if it ain't free, no no
And, feelin' good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues
You know, feelin' good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGhee

Splishin' and a Splasin'

My grandsons took swimming lessons this year. It was fun for me to watch them develop new skills. Our valley has a river that runs through it and we have numerous canals, ponds and lakes around us. I feel it is so important that every child learn to swim. Neither of my parents were swimmers and they made sure my brothers and I were able to swim at a young age. I did the same with my kids and now my grandkids. I wanted to send this card to my oldest grandson who had the biggest struggle with swim lessons. I am hoping this will cheer him on for lessons next year. The cute stamp is from CAAB and there is also a girl companion stamp. Hop over to her shop and you will find many stamps you will 'have' to have.
I am entering this card at the following challenge:

My song:  Good  Vibrations (Beach Boys)
I love the colorful clothes she wears
And the way the sunlight plays upon her hair
I hear the sound of a gentle word
On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air
I'm picking up good vibrations
She's giving me excitations
Good, good vibrations
Excitations

Puppies and Babies!

Puppies and babies they always make me smile. I knew this S.C.  stamp would be a favorite. I love the cute puppy and the smile it brings to the girl. This card was commissioned by a friend for her daughter's birthday. Her daughter is a dog lover and so I though this stamp would be the perfect card for her.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: How Much Is That Doggie In the Window (Patti Page)
How much is that doggie in the window?
The one with the waggly tail
How much is that doggie in the window?
I do hope that doggie's for sale
I must take a trip to California
And leave my poor sweetheart alone
If he has a dog, he won't be lonesome
And the doggie will have a good home
How much is that doggie in the window?
The one with the waggly tail
How much is that doggie in the window?
I do hope that doggie's for sale

"P" Is For Pearls

It is time for a another fun time at ABC Challenge. Our lovely sponsor is "Polkadoodles".
If you have never checked out this shop I hope you will click on the link and do so now. I love, love, love those fun stamps!

It's time for another fun challenge at ABC Challenge
and this time we are at the letter "P". Our challenge is to use Pearls
Polkadoodles is our lovely sponsor and I chose "Hi It's Me" stamp from the Winne Sugar Sprinkles Springtime collection and you can find her here!
I have had such fun coloring the stamps in this collection. I also used from my pile of "I don't know when I will use this" paper. I didn't like the color of this paper, but when I put it with this stamp I thought it looked a wee bit like an older house siding with peeling paint. I also used two ribbon slides to make the hinges on the door. The wooden butterflies came from our local youth ranch. I colored them with my Copics pen and added the white polk a dots with a gel pen and also made the trail of the butterflies with the white gel pen. Half pearls were added to the butterfly trails and to the fence (nails) die cut.

My Song: Finally Home (Jeremy Camp)
I will be dancing free
Unashamed before my King
When I am finally home
Won't need no bed to sleep
I have too much to see
Just staring at Your throne
Eyes will fill with tears of joy
Your fullness, I will know
I will be forever running free
Moving to all Heaven's melodies
Colors that I've never seen
Bigger than my wildest dreams
We'll be together
When I'm finally home

My and My Teddy Bear

I decided to pull out an old stamp and some new dies! I seem to be in a winter mood. It has been such a hot summer and we have had fires all around u so our valley has been thick with smoke. So I am wanting cooler weather, rain and snow (preferably lots of both) and all the fun that fall brings. Football, holidays, and family time. I also have a friend from high school who just retired and is now learning to enjoy this crazy world of paper crafting. So all of these 'just for fun' cards I am doing, I try to incorporate a new technique for her to learn. I don't know about the rest of you but I love sharing my (limited) skills with others. I am hoping one day Nan will be a part of the blogging world and  she will also love paper crafting as I do.
I hope everyone has a great Friday and a fabulous week-end. I challenge you to take a newbie under your wing and teach them the skills you have! Oh, and if any of you want to adopt me and help me learn I am here ready, willing and able! Blessings!
I am entering this card at the following challenge:

My Song: Here Am I (Mercy Me)
On the other side of the world
She stands on the ocean shore
Gazing at the heavens she wonders
Is there something more
Never been told the name of Jesus
She turns and walks away
What a shame
Just across the street in your hometown
Leaving from his nine to five
Gazing down the road he wonders
Is this all there is to life
Never been told the name of Jesus
He continues on his way
What a shame
Whom shall I send
Who will go for me
To the ends of the earth
Who will rise up for the King
Here am I send me
Here am I send me

"I Do"

The front of my card using an old Sara Kay stamp!

The inside of my card using a CAAB digi.

A Mo Manning on right inside of my card.

 The backside of my card.

This is a card I created for a friend to give to another couple for their anniversary and they are also longtime friends. (I love living in a small town)! It was a fun card to make. I tried to show their lives through the years. They are celebrating their 50th anniversary and to day is my husband's and my 44th anniversary. Time does fly. I hope you enjoy this card and today brings you blessings! I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Chapel of Love (Beach Boys)
Going to the chapel
And we're gonna get married
Going to the chapel
And we're gonna get married
Gee I really love you
And we're gonna get married
Going to the chapel of love
Spring is here (ooo-ooo-ooo)
The sky is blue (sky is blue)
Birds all sing (oh the birds all sing)
Like they do (yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah)
Today's the day (wah-hooo-oooo)
We'll say "I do" (ooo-oooo)
And we'll never be lonely anymore
Because we're
Going to the chapel
And we're gonna get married
Going to the chapel
And we're gonna get married
Gee I really love you
And we're gonna get married
Going to the chapel of love

The Paper Shelter Challenge-Embossing of Any Kind!

Good morning everyone! I hope this day brings you joy and happiness. For me, tomorrow is my 44th wedding anniversary. I was fortunate enough to marry my best friend and though we have had our share of ups and downs we have weathered the storms and now enjoy the blessings we have been given in our lives. Happy Anniversary to you Steve, I am truly thankful for you!
Now...time to get on with my card and the current challenge at The Paper Shelter! Our letter this months is "E" for embossing of any kind. I know some of you are so much more talented with this than I am and I am excited to see what you come up with. I am using "The Big Bad Wolf"! I loved this stamp the minute I saw it and knew it would be one of my favorites. I used a Stamping Up embossing folder, and four die cuts to finish off my card! I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: More (This was sung at our wedding!)
More than the greatest love the world has known,
This is the love I give to you alone,
More than the simple words I try to say,
I only live to love you more each day.
More than you'll ever know, my arms long to hold you so,
My life will be in your keeping, waking, sleeping, laughing, weeping,
Longer than always is a long long time, but far beyond forever you're gonna be mine.
I know I've never lived before and my heart is very sure,
No one else could love you more.
More than you'll ever know , my arms they long to hold you so,
My life will be in your keeping, waking, sleeping, laughing, weeping,
Longer than always is a long long time, but far beyond forever you'll be mine,
I know that I've never lived before and my heart is very sure,
No one else could love you more, no one else could love you more.

Under the Sea

I joined the progressive challenge on facebook at Cute As A Button. This darling mermaid was the first image in the challenge. I had such a fun time coloring her and then I found the pretty paper in my stash and it seemed perfect for this fun image. I used two Memory Box Die Cuts on the front and inside of my card. I used some Nuvo Clear for my bubbles. They added an extra dimension to my sea scene. It was a fun card to make and a fun digi to color. Hope over to facebook and join the fun on this progressive challenge!
I am entering this card at the following challenge:

My Song: Octopuses Garden (The Beatles)
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus's garden in the shade

I'd ask my friends to come and see
An octopus's garden with me
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden in the shade

Pretty In Pink

This is an older digi that I have had for several years. I have always liked it and so every now and then I print another one and color her up. I like to have cards on hand for those birthdays that pop up and are unexpected. This will go in my stash for those occasions!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: I'm A Believer (Niel Diamond)
I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me
Love was out to get me
That's the way it seemed
Disappointment haunted all of my dreams
Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer
Not a trace, of doubt in my mind
I'm in love, and I'm a believer
I couldn't leave her if I tried

"O" Is For "Open"

I have no idea why my card looks so wide. In RIL it is not! Anyway it is what it is! It is time for the letter "O" at ABC Challenge! "O" is for "Open", that's right! You can do anything you want. How easy is that? Our lovely sponsor this time is the wonderful, talented, Connie Fong! If you have never checked out her shop you have missed some lovely stamps. This is one of my favorites and is called Moon Flower and you can find her here! I love the beautiful and sweet expression this stamp. I added a fabric flower and a pretty die cut to finish off this card. Some pretty dragon flies add a bit of sparkle. I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: 10,000 Reasons (Matt Redmond)
Bless the Lord, Oh my soul
Oh my soul, worship his holy name
Sing like never before, Oh my soul
I'll worship your holy name
The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes
Bless the Lord, Oh my soul
Oh my soul, worship his holy name
Sing like never before, Oh my soul
I'll worship your holy name
You're rich in love and you're slow to anger
Your name is great and your heart is kind
For all your goodness, I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find
Bless the Lord, Oh my soul
Oh my soul, worship his holy name
Sing like never before, Oh my soul
I'll worship your holy name
Bless the lord, oh my soul
Oh my soul, Worship his holy name
Sing like never before, oh my soul
I'll worship your holy name
