Yesterday!

I needed a 'guy' card....and I always dread making guy cards. I decided to use this digi from Dr. Digi called "A Dunderton Abroad" . I thought the DP is from a pad called flannel plaid. I thought it  added a bit more 'manly' feel to the card. I die cut my Happy Birthday and added a bit of red glitter to pop it! Some pretty sparkley buttons from Queen and Co. and some glitter washi tape, liquid glass on the sunglasses finished off my card.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Yesterday (The Beatles)
Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Suddenly I'm not half the man I used to be.
There's a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.
Why she had to go, I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Back To School!

It is hard to believe that we are soon going to be at the end of our summer. I can remember my mom saying the older you get the faster time flies. It is so true as I watch my grandsons growing my leaps and bounds. Keeping with the end of summer tradition our challenge at The Paper Shelter  is "Back To School". I have chosen The Enchanted Professor for my back to school card. I think he is cute and who knows he might just be teaching at one of our universities! If you ever watch "Water's World" you would believe this is possible! I added some liquid glass to the ink bottle to make it look real and fussy cut the stamp and popped it with foam dots. A spellbinders label and some pearls finished off my card. Remember if you use a Paper Shelter stamp you can win $30 credit in their store. Since their stamps are some of the best around, why wouldn't you? (They are also the best bargain you will find!) So grab one of their stamps and play along!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: ABC (The Jackson 5)
You went to school to learn girl
Things you never, never knew before
Like "I" before "E" except after "C"
And why 2 plus 2 makes 4
Now, now, now
I'm gonna teach you

All about love girl

Sit yourself down, take a seat
All you gotta do is repeat after me
A B C
It's easy as, 1 2 3

All That Glitteres is Not Snow!

A closer look at the cute stamp!
The gold poinsettias!
Pretty pearl centers.
I am sorry this is such a poor photograph. I don't know what is wrong but I could not get a decent picture of this. I have had this digi stamp for many years and I still love to color it. I was trying to keep this card neutral tones. I was quiet happy with the way it turned out. The poinsettia die came from my dear friend who now irons in her craft room, Elaine Livesey! I have used them for many years and I love how they always turn out perfect. I really didn't have a reason to make this card, I just wanted to play a bit.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Even Santa Claus Gets the Blues (Marty Stuart)

Lost my favorite reindeer in a hurricane
Got so get-away on a count of rain
Countin' my troubles by threes and by twos
Even Santa Claus gets the blues
Well, I wasn't given for just one silent night
Just me and mama close by the warm fire light, yeah
But Christmas time is comin', there's just so much to do
Even Santa Claus gets the blues
But I know every single chimney like the back of my hand
People leave me milk and cookies, I just think that's grand
As the story goes, I'm a dearly loved man
But the reason for the season, some folks just don't understand

So, it's back to the work shop to make more toys
Can't wait to give 'em to all the girls and boys
I'm hookin' up my sleigh, go ahead and spread the noose
But sometimes, even Santa Claus gets the blues

My Song: The Heart of Christmas (Matthew West)
I’m gonna make a wish this Christmas
I’m gonna say a little prayer
I’m gonna stop here for a moment
Before the moment disappears
The world’s in a hurry this December
City streets and shopping malls
I wish we could slow down and remember
The meaning of it all
Wherever you are, no matter how far
Come back to the heart, the heart of Christmas
Live while you can, cherish the moment
The ones that you love, make sure they know it
Don’t miss it, the heart of Christmas

Punches and Dies, Oh, My!

Doesn't this stamp make you think of the 60's? Maybe it was because I grew up in that era and even dressed like this to some degree. (I never wore a peace sign!) It was a time of Woodstock, Beatles, and rock and roll! I think I just told you my age! LOL! Back to present day, it is time to play along with The Paper Shelter Challenge. Our theme this week is is "Punches and Dies".  We want to see your card loaded up with all kind of embellishments from punches and dies! How fun is that? Remember! If you use a Paper Shelter Stamp (and why wouldn't you?) you could win up to $30 in prizes.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: "Tapestry" by Carole King
My life has been a tapestry of rich and royal hue
An everlasting vision of the ever-changing view
A wondrous, woven magic in bits of blue and gold
A tapestry to feel and see, impossible to hold
Once amid the soft silver sadness in the sky
There came a man of fortune, a drifter passing by
He wore a torn and tattered cloth around his leathered hide
And a coat of many colors, yellow-green on either side
He moved with some uncertainty, as if he didn't know
Just what he was there for, or where he ought to go
Once he reached for something golden hanging from a tree
And his hand came down empty
Soon within my tapestry along the rutted road
He sat down on a river rock and turned into a toad
It seemed that he had fallen into someone's wicked spell
And I wept to see him suffer, though I didn't know him well
As I watched in sorrow, there suddenly appeared
A figure gray and ghostly beneath a flowing beard
In times of deepest darkness, I've seen him dressed in black
Now my tapestry's unraveling - he's come to take me back
He's come to take me back

A closer look at this cute stamp!

Don't you love her cute face?
 The inside of my card.

Here we are starting the month of August the end of summer will soon be here! Time is flying by so fast I am not sure  I am ready for summer to be over. What I am ready for is another challenge at "ABC Challenge"! Our letter is "M" for Maiden! We want to see cards for a young girl. My card is going to a sweet little girl from church who is celebrating her birthday the end of September. Our wonderful sponsor is The Paper Shelter you can find this image along with many more fun images. The winner of our challenge will have a hard time choosing their prize.
I colored this stamp called "My Cuppy Cake"
with my Copics.  I love the bright printed paper and some pretty fabric flowers from Queen and Co. added to the whimsical feel of this card.  The pretty gingham ribbon and bow finished off my card. I hope you will join us with our fun challenge. I can't wait to see your   "Maiden" cards.
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Mr. Blue
Winter sounds crying like an old man slowly dying
And the only sound, the wind that fills the trees
Even colder comes the moon
And though it never seems too soon
Sudden stillness as the rainfall starts to freeze
I'm Mr.Blue
I'm here to stay with you
And no matter what you do
When you're lonely, I'll be lonely too
