Everything But the Wings

I spent some time coloring recently and found myself enjoying a 'new' 'old' image. This was the very first Paper Shelter image I  bought several years ago, it is called Sophie In The Country. Recently, our lovely artist 'tweaked' it and it is ever so lovely. I love the sweet face and the gentle look. I had a rather rough week-end dealing with personalities and people with lots of issues going on. These times are when I want to be like Sophie and sitting on a fence enjoying the day. LOL! I added some quilled butterflies. It has been a bit of time since I have quilled and it took me longer to make the butterflies than it did to color my image. I added a little sticker heart to the butterfly to match the hearts in the corners. This card will go to a little girl from church for her birthday. I am sure she will love it. I hope your week is filled with blessings!

The Paper Shelter will be having a DT call starting on the 10th. I can tell you they are a fabulous group to be a part of and so generous with their lovely images. I love being on the team and I am beyond thrilled that I can stay on one more term. Please consider entering your work !
My Song: (Alan Jackson)It’s hard to describe
  • It’s hard to describe
You’re like nothing I’ve ever known in my life
Kindness flowing from down deep inside your eyes
    So selfless and complete
    Beauty in and out
All around you not a single cloud
Like the rain just stops before it hits ground
    And puddles at your feet
    You’re an angel
I know heaven wonders where you are
Like you fell off some ol' shining star
    Right into my heart
    An angel
When I’m with you I feel like a king
Just like out of some old movie scene
    An angel
    Everything but the wings

A Birthday Card for my Pastor

I know this is an unusual card for a Pastor, but the inside of the card says..."Aren't you glad God made you?" Since our pastor is used to my warped since of humor, I think he will get a kick out of this card. I thought the gears added a bit of the mad scientist lab look. Just a fun little card that will hopefully bring a smile to someone on their birthday.
My Song:
Don't worry about that extra line
That's creeping up upon your face
It's just a part of nature's way
To say you've grown a little more
Trees have rings and thicker branches
Kids shoes get a little tighter
Every year we're getting closer to who we're gonna be
It's time to celebrate the story of how you've come to be

Put a Little Love In Your Heart

I just love the new look of Tilda. This sweet image is one of the cutest yet. I love her shy little look. This is one of those cards that started out to be one things and ended up as something else. I was playing around with an embossing folder. I dabbed a bit of antiquing with ink and then added Stickles for a bit of bling. I also added some around the die cut. These cute little heart stickers were just the ticket to pull out the heart Tilda is holding. Liquid glass gave the pop to the heart to make it stand out. I am watching the frustration of the coaches and players with the delay of the Super Bowl game. Sometimes with all the modern technology we forget that the world can watch our words and actions. Not always the best thing to be caught on camera!
I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Put A Little Love In Your Heart
Think of your fellow man

Lend him a helping hand
Put a little love in your heart
You see it's getting late

Oh please don't hesitate

And the world will be a better place

And the world will be a better place
For you and me

Heartfelt Fishing?

I really wanted to play in the Saturated Canary challenge as I have been missing far too many of my favorite challenges. This week's challenge is a color challenge. I hope I got my colors right. Color challenges are always hard for me. I don't know why but there you go. I used my friend Amanda's advice for coordinating my papers. What do you think Amanda, did I get it right? My Spellbinder die is a new Christmas present. I must admit I struggled with it. I used wax paper rolled it several times through my Big Shot and still it stuck in the die. Finally I managed to get it unstuck, but it was a lot of work. My paper is DCWV 'Linen Closet' . One of my favorite paper stacks. I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday and that the second half of the game will bring some great things for the '49'ers.

My Song:: Because You Loved Me

For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful baby
You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You're the one who saw me through through it all

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am

Because you loved me

Seeing Dots and Spots?

I had to laugh with I first saw this image. My mom always wanted me to be a 'frilly' little girl and for the most part dressed me in pink. Unfortunately for her, I grew up in a neighborhood of boys and was the worst tomboy!  This image made me think of those days. Our challenge at ABC this time is "G" for Going Dotty! I chose to make my card a 'big' dot, then I added a bit of paper from the old scrap box that had dots on it. I added dots of Stickles and dots of liquid pearls. The image is colored with Touch Twin markers and guess what? Marker Pop now has refills for them!  The inside of my care (which I forgot to take a picture of) has the same matching paper and I used a computer generated sentiment that says, "This girl can take you out" ...something I probably yelled at my brothers when they were trying to exclude me because I was a "Girl!" LOL! I hope you will join us this week in our fun challenge. Our lovely sponsors are Marker POP and Little Darlin's. Both are lovely places to shop, you should give them a look see.
My Song: You Belong With Me
You're on the phone with your girlfriend, she's upset
She's going off about something that you said
She doesn't get your humor like I do
I'm in the room, it's a typical Tuesday night
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like
And she'll never know your story like I do
But she wears short skirts, I wear t-shirts
She's cheer captain, but I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you'll wake up and find
That what you're lookin for has been here the whole time
If you could see that I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can't you see?
You belong with me

All Wrapped Up!!

Is anyone ready for spring and tired of the 'cold' weather? I for one am ready for a bit of sunshine and signs of spring! If I could just get the weather to co-operate! At least we can still have fun with some of those winter stamps! I fell in love with this little guy from THE PAPER SHELTER. He has the sweetest face  and you can tell he is warming his little bottom. You can find "There's a Penguin in my cocoa! "Here! This is also a versatile image as I used my paint program and erased out the Christmas tree. I added a computer generated "Happy Birthday" as I am using this for a 'guy' birthday card. I colored my image with Copics and Shinhan Maarkers. I used a MS punch for the icicles and added Stickles to make them shine. The bottom card I used Stickles on the leaves that were made from a C.C. die cut. The paper lace is also a Magnolia die cut! Our challenge this week at  The Paper Shelter is "All Wrapped Up" ! If you hop over and take a look at the lovely entries by my teammates you will also see we all had a different take on this theme. I can't wait to see what your take is. Remember if you use a Paper Shelter Image you can win $30 to spend in the store!
My  Song: You'll Never Walk Alone
When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark
Walk on, through the wind
Walk on, through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Love the Eyes!

I am loving these new images! They make such nice cards for the kids at church. I know they will like them. My paper is from a lovely pad that Elaine sent me for Christmas and the liquid pearls are from Amanda, also a Christmas present. FYI...did you know that liquid pearls set up like cement on your shoes if you should drop a bit  on them and not notice it? I am beginning to think anything liquid and me are a disaster. I used my Copics, and Shinhan markers to color this lovely image. I am still working on my hair coloring to make it look life like. I may pull all of mine out be fore it do get it. LOL! I am entering this card at the following challenges:

My Song: Do They See Jesus in Me?
Is the face that I see in the mirror the one I want others to see?
Do I show in the way that I walk in my life the love that you've given to me?
My heart's desire is to be like you in all that I do, all I am
Do they see Jesus in me?
Do they recognize your face?
Do I communicate your love and your grace?
Do I reflect who you are in the way I choose to be?
Do they see Jesus, Jesus in me?
Well it's amazing that you'd ever use me, but use me the way you will
Help me to hold out heart of compassion and grace
A heart that your Spirit fills
May I show forgiveness and mercy the same way you've shown it to me
Well I want to show all the world that You are the reason I live and breathe
So You'll be the one that they see when they see me
Oh, do they see Jesus in me?

Just a quick Post!

I just wanted to share with you a quick little Valentine card I made. I love the new images from Sugar Nellie....don't you think she is sweet? This is a CAS card for me and I still think it need something! I guess I am not good at CAS as mine always look unfinished! I hope your week-end is a wonderful one!
My Song: Be My Baby Tonight
I know you've heard that worn out line about love at first sight
Well I never knew those words were true when you walked in tonight
All it took was just one look to knock me off of my feet
I'm not a man of many words so I'll make this short and sweet
Could you, would you ain't you gonna if I asked you would you wanna be
my baby tonight yeah take a chance, slow dance make a little romance
honey it'll be alright girl you got me
wishing we were hugging and a-kissing and holding each other tight
could you, would you ain't you
gonna if I asked you would you wanna be my baby tonight

Put a Little Love In Your Heart!

Happy Friday everyone. This card is a 'just for fun' card. I wanted to post it so I could tell you of a recent experience I had on a design team. Our design team at ABC and the Paper Shelter is comprised of some of the nicest, most talented women I have ever met. Each has a unique style and a different take from mine on each challenge. I love that difference as it teaches me so much. Having said that, I was unpleasantly surprised by a few of the comments that were left on our challenge blog at ABC, this week. One was so bad it was deleted and the other remains. I am having trouble understanding what motivates people to be unkind and rude to others. I know we have all experienced unkindness in life, but I have never saw it before associated with card making. In fact, it is just the opposite. If I haven't understood how to do something I just put a question on my blog and I get help and answers from 'friends' that I haven't ever met. I love it. My team leaders on both design teams (Julie Price and Shirley Chalmers) are the absolute best, kindest and most talented people  I could ever hope to know. I have a special friend Amanda and her cards are absolutely beautiful. Even though our tastes in stamps are very different (and believe me, we do give each other a hard time), we tease each other constantly about our stamps. All of this has made me wonder about the people who have felt the need at any time to be unkind to others. So, if I have ever offended you, I apologize.   I am hoping this year to brighten the day of each person that I encounter whether in blog land or IRL. I have started leaving positive comments on at least one persons blog when I enter a challenge. I am taking time to leave each DT a positive comment about their cards. It is a small thing but maybe it will help someone to have a better day. What about you? What are you going to do to make someones day brighter? Blessings to each of you. Thank you for your kindness to me. For those who are feeling unkind. I am sorry that you are hurting and I hope your day goes better.
My Song: Put A Little Love In Your Heart!

Think of your fellow man
Lend him a helping hand
Put a little love in your heart

You see it's getting late
Oh please don't hesitate
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place For you and me
You just wait and see

Another day goes by
And still the children cry
Put a little love in you heart
If you want the world to know
We won't let hatred grow
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place For you and me
You just wait and see
Wait and see

Take a good look around
And if you're lookin' down
Put a little love in your heart

I hope when you decide
Kindness will be your guide
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place
And the world will be a better place
For you and me
You just wait and see

Put a little love in your heart !

That's Why! They Call It The Blues

Have you ever had a week start out and think....'It is going to be one of those weeks' "? It certainly has been one of those weeks for me already. I was at work yesterday and my day was almost over when a friend pointed out that I had on two different snow boots. My face still burns with embarrassment! I helped a friend do some packing for an upcoming move and just couldn't fall asleep Sunday night. I guess I was more tired than I realized. Oh, but my sad story gets better. This card was supposed to be posted on the 16th. I thought yesterday was the 15th and so I posted this card early. I just can't wait to see what today will bring me. LOL! I am finding out the older I get the better it is to laugh at one's self! So, now that you have discovered that I am NOT a rocket scientist, I will tell you about my card. This is a new image from THE PAPER SHELTER  called "Coffee Break". I must admit this image besides being adorable fits me perfect. I love to have my comfy p.j.'s on and sit and read my e-mails from friends. I used my new Magnolia die cut that I received from my DH for Christmas to make my paper lace. Isn't it pretty? All of my papers came from various sources (and from my scrap box. I added liquid glass to the glasses. So join our "Blue's" challenge this week and you might be the lucky winner of a prize from the paper shelter. Have a blessed day....no matter what date it is! For those who follow me and had a 'sneak peek'......shhhhhh.....don't tell until tomorrow.....or maybe in your world it is almost today.....good grief...I  am going to take a nap!

I'm a Sci-fi fanatic
Mild athsmatic
Never been to 2nd base
But there's a whole nother me
That you need to see
Go check out MySpace
Cause online I'm down in Hollywood
I'm 6'5 and I look damn good
I drive a Maserati
I'm a black belt in Karate
And I love a good glass of wine
It turns girls on that I'm mysterious
I tell 'em I don't want nothing serious
Cause even on a slow day I can have a three way
Chat with two women at one time
I'm so much cooler online
So much cooler online

I had to give some of my new Christmas presents a try. This is a new Magnolia stamp, and the paper lace on the side is a Magnolia die...I think it is so pretty. the pretty little cream hearts are liquid pearls from my sweet friend Amanda! Might as well share, might as well smile
Life goes on for a little bitty while

A Card For Logan

This is a card for my youngest grandson Logan. This Sassy Cheryl image also captures his personality. I just love these stamps and they are such a fun color for me. I suppose this is my stab at a  CAS card. (But, I may add something to this just dress it up a bit. LOL! The snowflakes are really a metal brad that I found at Oriental Trading. I think they are very pretty and do add to the card. I used Stickles for the sparkle around the snowman and the cute little boy. I glued glitter  on the snow for a bit more bling! Another fun card to brighten one of my little guys day.
Challenges That I Am Entering:
http://sassycherylschallenge.blogspot.com/

My Song: The Same Love (Paul Baloche)
You choose the humble and raise them high
You choose the weak and make them strong
You heal our brokenness inside
And give us life
The same love that set the captives free
The same love that opened eyes to see
Is calling us all by name
You are calling us all by name
The same God that spread the heavens wide
The same God that was crucified
Is calling us all by name
You are calling us all by name

A Card for Luke!

What a computer mess I have had the last couple of days. Thanks to my husband, Shirley, and Julie Price I am happy to say that I am back in business. I couldn't load my pictures on blogger. But thanks to these two ladies I am now using Foxfire and Google Chrome both of which solved the problem. I am finding that Foxfire is the better of the two. I do hate when I can't get this computer to do what I want and sometimes Blogger and me are just not on speaking terms. If anyone else has had this problem give these a try and see if it solves your problem. this is a fun card I made for my oldest grandson. I wanted to send him a little thank you for Christmas and just a 'Grammy loves you' card. This Sassy Cheryl image captures his personality perfectly. I used puffy paint on the fur on the sleeves of his jacket....note...do not add your glitter first....oh, my, did I have things popping for a few minuets. I die cut my snowflakes (which are falling quiet freely from our skies today) and then added a bit of Stickles for some bling. Glitter (popping glitter) was added to the snowballs. A blue rhinestone to each snowflake finished off my card. Hope your Monday was filled with blessings!
I will have to look for challenges for this card!

My Song: He Said (Mary Mary)
Whatever you need for him to do
He will do it if you give him the chance
And I am telling he's already proud
That he can do anything,
So give him the chance
Now there's been so many times
I called on him
Regardless of the circumstance
He was there
So now I devoted my life to serving him
It's me for him `cause all the time he
Was there for me
It doesn't matter what the need
No there's no limit, I'll give you anything
All I want is you to trust me
Through my love I'll set you free

Embossing!....ABC's Challenge

This is a quick scheduled post. ABC is starting off the year with a fun challenge "Embossing". I used both dry embossing and some powder embossing on this card. Both of my sentiments are done with a dry powder silver embossing. For some reason it looks like it is blue in my pictures! Also, my olive green paper looks black in the pictures! I was in such a hurry as we are driving our son and grandsons back to Wyoming, that I went with the pictures that I had and I also didn't add a watermark! Yikes, I don't do well under 'time' pressure! Anyway grab a favorite image and show us your embossing!  Our lovely sponsors are Stamp and Create and The Pretty Little Ribbon Shop and they are offering some fabulous prizes! Hop on over to ABC's Challenge blog and join the fun! Just a reminder to all....you must follow the rules...we have several people who are not and your card will be eliminated from winning if you do not follow the rules. Have a very happy and save new year and start your new year off with crafting! hugs and blessings!

Looking Good!

Just a quick scheduled post to show off one of the new images at The Paper Shelter. I loved this cute little digi and was quick to recognize that there was never a time that I dressed this cute to play in the snow....more like the head to foot fully layered kid that couldn't get up if I fell over. Ha!

Some Christmas Family Pictures!

I wanted to share some Christmas pictures with you. We had such a wonderful Christmas with our grand kids and our son and daughter-in-law. I wanted to share some of the fun with you! Our son rebuilt two dirt bikes for the the grandsons for Christmas...they were beyond thrilled and they also received new dirt bike 'duds' so they were beaming with joy all day long. They wore their new outfits all day long. Our DIL fixed a wonderful meal and we enjoyed making memories with our grandsons. It was a perfect day! I feel so blessed and know that my family is a gift from God. Happy New Year to each of you!

A new store in town!

Hey everyone...there is a new store in town selling fabulous chipboard...be sure and check them out! http://bluefernstudios.blogspot.com/2012/12/our-first-giveaway.html

Baby It's Cold Outside!

I can't believe how close we are getting to Christmas. I hope each of you are all prepared and have some time to play in our next challenge! This is a fun and easy one...."Anything Goes". So take some time to play and make a card using one of the darling Paper Shelter images and join the fun. This is a scheduled post as I am on my way to visit the grand kids (and the big kids) for Christmas. I am praying we have good roads and I am so excited about seeing my grandsons! They bring so much love and fun into the holiday.  A special Merry Christmas to all my team mates at TPS and especially Shirley, our team leader and TPS you are all the best!
My Song: Alan Jackson
They came from near, they came from far
Following a distant star to where he'd lay
Not being sure of what it meant
But knowing it was heaven sent, they made their way
And the creatures gathered round
And didn't make a sound and the angels cried
The angels knew what was to come
The reason God had sent His Son from up above
It filled their hearts with joy to see
And knowing of His destiny, came tears of love
And the creatures gathered round
And didn't make a sound and the angels cried
I've often thought about that night
And wondered if they realized that star so bright
Was sent to tell all the land
The Son of God would soon become the Son of Man
And the creatures gathered round
And didn't make a sound and the angels cried
And the angels cried

Merry "Christ"mas and blessings to each of you!

Merry Christmas to All! And A Winner!

I am getting ready to go visit my son and his family for Christmas. I am so excited as I know these times pass quickly and I want to enjoy and appreciate every moment I have with my grandsons. They are 7 and 5 and right now they love spending time with grammy and papa. I am praying that we have good roads to travel on as the roads in winter can get a bit scary. I am packing water, food, candles, sleeping bags and pillows...just in case.
I made these little notebooks for some special friends that I get together with and scrapbook. We call ourselves the Stampin Grannies and we always have fun when we get together.  I hope you enjoy seeing how I decorated each one....Now my winner from TPS blog hop....Amanda Reed...Amanda please contact The Paper Shelter with your choice of a digi image and let them know you won it on my blog! Congratulations!
My Song: What Child Is This?
What child is this, who, laid to rest
On Mary's lap, is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing:
Haste, haste to bring him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!

Have a blessed Christmas and treat everyone with love. Your family is a gift from God!
