What is a craftier to do? (Proverbs 3:7)

A closer look!
Another view!

I hope you enjoy my card today. I had a fun time making it. Sadly, (although it is just a card)  I made if for a DT challenge and just found out it will not be posted on the DT blog. Which brings me to the crux of the problem. I did not realize until today (July 1) that there was a problem with this image.  I am only posting this card to let artists know my frustration. I am sure I am not alone in my lack of understanding what image is OK and what is not and by what authority it is being deemed so. I will say in defense of The Paper Shelter they instantly took the image down when they were made aware of the controversy. I know they have always been honorable with me and I truly believe in this situation they were also. I do not want to be drawn into a firestorm but I do want artists to know that many of us are just enjoying making cards and do not desire to jump in with fists flying. I would not deliberately post a card to offend anyone but I am posting this card to say it was made innocently and without malice to any artist. I can only imagine  the frustration of one artist with another over copyright infringement. I would hope that everyone would be like Pedro and Veronica at The Paper Shelter and take the higher ground. They have turned the other cheek and so shall I. This is the last time I will post a card with this image. I hope all the artists involved in conflicts with each other will soon be able to resolve their issue with each other!
On a happier note The Paper Shelter is having a great challenge this week and it involves using some lovely colors on your creation. Please hop on over and check it out and don't miss the fabulous prize you can win. The Paper Shelter has always had images of the best quality and some of the best art work you can find. The images are sweet and never offensive. There is something for every one!
Have a safe and sane  4th of July. My thoughts and prayers go out to each of the firefighters and their families in Arizona.
BTW my name is Patty so I used purple!
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
My Song: Why Can't We Be Friends
Why can't we be friends? \
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
I seen you 'round for a long, long time, yeah
I remembered you when you drink my wine
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
Why can't we be friends?
Don't forget to join The Paper Shelter's Challenge blog you could win a fabulous prize!

Sadly I don't understand any of this issue, you know I'm not really a card maker. Well I love your card and how you colored her to perfection, you have created a gorgeous layout for her too. Hope you have a great day, whatever is going on we can not get caught up in the small stuff , so have a wonderful day, BIG HUGS to you my dear..

Well said my friend. Seems everybody is so quick to take offense and scream foul that we forget the joy of what we do. Crafting is supposed to be about our creative side and enjoying what we do. So I love what you did with this cute little image. Well done!

Hi Patty, Im really sorry that I couldnt add it to the DT post but I didnt want to make Veronica and Pedro's problems any worse, its not their fault really as they were caught in a trap of someone else's doing.
Your card is stunning and you have coloured it so beautifully I really love it, so please forgive me, Im stuck in the middle to. hugs Shirleyxxxx

A beautiful card Patty in the prettiest of colours.

An extremely well thought out and written post. I totally agree that to copy any artists own original drawings is wrong and needs to be addressed but in some circles it appears to have become more of a witch hunt. I too am a happy crafter who only wants to enjoy what little free time I have making cards, without fear of reproach if I have unwittingly and unknowingly used an image which upsets/offends anyone.

Big hugs to you
Love Elaine xxx

Well put and I love this card so glad you went ahead and posted it. I think a lot of people are now realizing this got out of hand very quickly and turned into something they didn't mean for it to be. Big hugs Purple Patty! PS. Something is coming in the mail for you...

I came here ages ago with the intention of thanking you for joining us at the Clear It Out Challenge Blog ... and got distracted (as you know).

Anyhow, love the card and the bright colors you used. You colored the image perfectly! One day, I hope to color as well.

Good luck in the CIO challenge this week.
